Palin to run as independent? 'Not out of the realm of possibility'

A fellow tea-party candidate and Alaskan politician who drew Sarah Palin's endorsement in 2010 says it's not "out of the realm of possibility" that the former governor might still run for president in 2012 … as an independent.

Former Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joe Miller evaluated the chances Palin might run in a conversation with Aaron Klein during the host's "Aaron Klein Investigative Radio" program on New York City's WABC Radio.

When asked if Palin, who announced she would not seek the Republican nomination for president, might consider running as an independent, Miller replied, "You know, I think it's unlikely. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility, but certainly if you ask her today, I think she would affirm that there's no way she would do that.

"In fact, she made it very clear in her statement that she is going to focus not only on making sure the Republican nominee wins in 2012, but also to assist in making sure that the Senate is retaken," he continued. "So at least taking her opinion today, she would tell you no."

Miller, however, refused to slam the door on the idea: "But I know Sarah, and the reality is she's a fighter. If she sees the country in desperate need of leadership not being provided by either of the two parties, who knows? Maybe she would jump into it."

For those under the influence, perhaps.

WND tends to get the news wrong more than they get it right and this is no exception. There is no way she’ll run as an Independent. She is perfectly content doing what she’s doing and saying anything she wants without handlers telling her what she can say or not say

“I can only see her doing that if she was sure she could beat both Obama and Romney.”

I can only see her do this IF she truly believed that she was ready to leave the GOP because it could not be salvaged. Meaning if the “establishment” GOP gets one of their wishy washy “moderates” (translate as “liberal”) to win the GOP nod and threaten marginalizing the conservative base.

An entire story about what Sarah Palin might do based on anonymous third-party gossip.

And then the headline acts like she said something she never said.

WND is a couple of rungs below the defunct News of the World.

After reading the first 65 posts, I have to disagree with most. Assuming that Romney gets the nomination and Obama stays in the race, Palin would have an excellent chance of winning as an independent. Neither Obama nor Romney inspires while Palin does inspire. I’m not saying that she would run as an independent, only that she would be a force to be reckoned with if she did. Anyone listen to her MO speech this weekend? Palin hasn’t been diminished in the least.

You got a nice plug in that “Tea Party Tribune” article. It’s nationally syndicated. You’re famous now. Way too cool.

I don't think she ever had any serious intentions of a POTUS run. The lack of action over the summer pretty well pointed to the fact she was not going to run. Last moment bow out and in theory the window is now closed for anyone else.

I do believe she simply dragged this out so we would have a two Moderates race as the likely GOP nomination. Those who control the GOP policies and purse strings are not going to allow an outsider to win the nomination. But they will use a decoy.

Sarah like a few others in the past few elections has been nothing more than a diversion ploy so a liberal like McCain can win like when we saw Thompson bow out in 2008. This time around it's Romney or Perry. Both with far less than desirable conservative traits which warms the liberal hearts of the controlling Rockefeller GOP.
