Obama's Stunning Loss Of African-American Support Has Extended To Nevada

A day after a poll in North Carolina showed a stunning loss of support for President Barack Obama among African-American voters, a new poll from the same firm finds the same thing is happening in Nevada.

The survey, from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling, gives Obama 69 percent of the African-American vote. Republican nominee Mitt Romney gets 28 percent.

If these numbers are accurate, than this is astounding. In the North Carolina poll released Tuesday, Obama got 76 percent of the African-American vote, to Romney's 20 percent.

Much like North Carolina, Obama garnered the vast majority of African-American support in Nevada in the 2008 election. He received 94 percent to John McCain's 5 percent.

Like North Carolina, Obama's favorability in Nevada among African-Americans is also down from PPP's last poll of the state. In March, his approval rating stood at 81 percent. Now, it's 69 percent.

Meanwhile, Romney's favorability has jumped from 14 percent to 41 percent among African-Americans....

Barack Obama will get 96% of the black vote. Period. What’s at stake are the enthusiasm and intimidation factors.

If black enthusiasm lags, it could affect black turnout. And if Obama is not able to intimidate whites with black backlash, that could lower his white vote.

Hence, he is campaigning in black barbershops.

I agree with you - for the ones that actually go to the polls. But just think of how many will simply stay home and not vote because of the lack of support.

Sounds like head fake to me. What to look for on election day is what percent of African-American voters go to the polls because I am sure Obama will get his 99.9%.

I agree that Obama will get the vast majority of the black who decide to vote. That will be the key, they will not show up so the number of black voters will be down. Thus the ones who do will still vote for O.

Instead of voting for a Republican, they will stay home, and that will be even worse than if they show up and vote for Romney. Main because they would still vote down ticket for Democrats.

This is real bad news for Democrats who were already looking at a tough road to maintain their numbers in congress.

There are many districts around the country that Democrats win mostly on the strength of the black who, and so those members of congress could lose to the republican challenger.

We could see another 60 seat pickup in the House and maybe even a 60 plus seat majority in the Senate, if Blacks stay home.

Study what happened in Florida when the Democrats removed the extreme liberal black that was the Speaker of the Florida House. The democrats have not controlled Florida since because Blacks turned their backs on them.
