The full outbreak of Romney Derangement Syndrome
Hot Air ^ | July 14, 2012 | Karl

Posted on 07/14/2012 1:29:52 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

This week in the presidential campaign was driven by several stories, primarily Mitt Romney’s speech to the NAACP convention; the likely bogus rumor that Romney was considering Condoleeza Rice as his vice-presidential pick; and the hysterical, bogus claim that Romney may be a felon based on decade-old SEC filings. Let’s look at the common thread running through them.

Partisans on both sides of the aisle questioned Romney’s decision to appear at the NAACP convention, given that African-Americans have been a solidly reliable Democratic voting bloc for decades. However, a Romney campaign adviser told BuzzFeed that Romney’s attendance at the convention wasn’t primarily intended to break off a portion of the black vote, but to make clear to moderates that he intends to be an inclusive president. (I would suggest this was also part of the motivation for the Condi VP leak, if it came from the campaign.) It is really polite code for saying Romney was going after the votes of white college graduates, particularly women. Recall how the Emerging Democratic Majority theorists see this campaign:

[Ruy] Teixeira, writing with John Halpin, argues in “The Path to 270: Demographics versus Economics in the 2012 Presidential Election,” that in order to be re-elected, President Obama must keep his losses among white college graduates to the 4-point margin of 2008 (47-51). Why? Otherwise he will not be able to survive a repetition of 2010, when white working-class voters supported Republican House candidates by a record-setting margin of 63-33.

Obama’s alternative path to victory, according to Teixeira and Halpin, would be to keep his losses among all white voters at the same level John Kerry did in 2004, when he lost them by 17 points, 58-41. This would be a step backwards for Obama, who lost among all whites in 2008 by only 12 points (55-43). Obama can afford to drop to Kerry’s white margins because, between 2008 and 2012, the pro-Democratic minority share of the electorate is expected to grow by two percentage points and the white share to decline by the same amount, reflecting the changing composition of the national electorate.

Recent polling suggests Obama’s current support among non-college whites remains mired about where is was for Democrats in 2010. However, Obama has largely maintained his support with white college grads, still within the margin of error of that 47% he won in 2008. If he erodes much further in that demographic, it is also unlikely that he would be able to achieve the alternate target for the overall white vote.

Obama’s precarious position in this regard explains the increasingly negative, hysterical and defamatory campaign being waged by Team Obama, promoted by various establishment media outlets at different times over the past few weeks, culminating in the full flowering of Romney Derangement Syndrome at this week’s end. Team Obama must increasingly rely on the “otherization” of Romney (and his church) of the sort the very same people roundly condemned and marginalized when attempted against Obama in 2008. Indeed, Obama started painting himself into his current corner during the 2008 primaries. Obama ran — and has largely governed — against the Clintonian version of the Democratic Party, now extending to Obama’s weakening of welfare reform. It is thus not terribly surprising that Obama’s tenuous grip on white college grads has become the flashpoint of the 2012 campaign.

Look, so he fooled the Mormons as well. I didn't say anything about Mormons being acolytes of the anti-Christ, just that Romney falls into that category along with his soulmate Obama.

You folks spending your afternoons and evenings doing Temple Work cruising the net really have to get over thinking that every criticism directed at Romney's character is directed at you ~ unless, of course, it fits, then you probably ought to be really worried.

Mitt wants you to pay for the dead babies. Obama wants to take all your money and have you pay for the dead babies. All same thing.

So, by your logic, every parishioner who put money in the collection plate of a Catholic or other denomination with priests/clergy who abused children is a pedophile, right?

you may want to have a grown-up explain the Born Alive Infant Protection Act - or you can be another “dead is dead” naive idiot. Your choice.

So please spare us your bullsh*t that Romney got where he did because of the GOP-e.

Romney never would have been a first-tier candidate, let alone the nominee, if he had outspent his opponents 10 or 20-1 in several key states. Of course, almost all the spending he did was aimed at destroying his opponents because there wasn't anything in his record he could run on.

Yet, somehow, you have convinced yourself Romney is Ronald Reagan.

We need a balanced budget. Only by electing Romney and fiscal conservatives to congress can that be achieved.

There is a better chance of winning the Powerball lottery than there is Romney will balance the budget.

Who in the world do you think you're voting for?

Romney, if elected, will make marginal "spending cuts" 10 years down the line and raise taxes to make it look like he is getting the deficit under control.

Artcore, Mr. RomneyCARE got where he is ONLY by CHEATING,
by FIXING the elections, by BACKSTABBING,
by buying endorsements and votes, by busing voters
across state lines to vote twice,
by DIRTY TRICKS, and by changing the rules
during the election

Typical Nasty Cheating Mr. RomneyCARE.
Perfect star of the GOPe - the AUTHOR of DEATH-CARE, himself.

Couldn’t agree more with your post that the real enemy is Obama.

Romney is the enemy within, destroying conservatism within the Republican party.

People who oppose Romney are Helping Obama. And, protecting the conservative movement and Republican party from being devastated by another liberal Republican.

All the gains made in 2010 will be for nothing and eliminated, Democrats will take back Congress and we will end up with someone as bad as Obama in the White House if Romney is elected.

The perfect is the enemy of the good.

Great cliche. But, Romney isn't a flawed conservative. He is a liberal who, at best, governs out of political expediency. Putting faith in someone like that is a guaranteed path to disaster for the conservative movement.

You just gave yourself away Leftwingtard ~ I knew you'd do that when you seemed to focus on "killing live infants' as your bright line between Romney and Obama.

My bright line is a tad earlier than that ~ they're all babies to me, and i disapprove of you or Romney or Obama taking my money to kill them, or using the power of the state to protect the killers.

Just privatize that business ~ pull out the cops and the courts ~ keep the government away from it and see how long it lasts.

Mr. RomneyCARE has NO respect for Constitutions.

THAT is how he imposed gay marriage.

Mr. RomneyCARE imposed it, and now is against it.

JUST LIKE DEATH PANELS.

He was President and CEO of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.

And, as CEO and before in elected office, Romney sought to discriminate against the Boy Scouts because the organization wouldn't allow homosexual scoutmasters.

Romney's record in Massachusetts? He was both the father of gay marriage and provided the blueprint for Obamacare. Despite significant tax and fee increases, the state ended up drowning it debt because of his failed healthcare legislation.

Yet, remarkable, you think he is a conservative. Unbelievable.

At his known worst, he will never be the threat to our freedom & our way of life that 0bama is.

Unlike Obama, he will destroy the Republican majority in congress with bad leftist policies that the Republican party will get the blame for. His election assures no conservative will be in the White House for eight years, rather than just four.

But, Romneybots can't think more than a couple of months in advance and want to stick their heads in the sand when it comes the damage Romney will do the conservative movement and Republican party.

This sort of stupidity is why conservative keeps electing Republicans and the country keeps moving to the left.

When you come up with an actual answer instead of a lame insult, get back to me. You’re actions result in more, not less, baby deaths. So don’t pretend to care.
