The full outbreak of Romney Derangement Syndrome
Hot Air ^ | July 14, 2012 | Karl

Posted on 07/14/2012 1:29:52 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

This week in the presidential campaign was driven by several stories, primarily Mitt Romney’s speech to the NAACP convention; the likely bogus rumor that Romney was considering Condoleeza Rice as his vice-presidential pick; and the hysterical, bogus claim that Romney may be a felon based on decade-old SEC filings. Let’s look at the common thread running through them.

Partisans on both sides of the aisle questioned Romney’s decision to appear at the NAACP convention, given that African-Americans have been a solidly reliable Democratic voting bloc for decades. However, a Romney campaign adviser told BuzzFeed that Romney’s attendance at the convention wasn’t primarily intended to break off a portion of the black vote, but to make clear to moderates that he intends to be an inclusive president. (I would suggest this was also part of the motivation for the Condi VP leak, if it came from the campaign.) It is really polite code for saying Romney was going after the votes of white college graduates, particularly women. Recall how the Emerging Democratic Majority theorists see this campaign:

[Ruy] Teixeira, writing with John Halpin, argues in “The Path to 270: Demographics versus Economics in the 2012 Presidential Election,” that in order to be re-elected, President Obama must keep his losses among white college graduates to the 4-point margin of 2008 (47-51). Why? Otherwise he will not be able to survive a repetition of 2010, when white working-class voters supported Republican House candidates by a record-setting margin of 63-33.

Obama’s alternative path to victory, according to Teixeira and Halpin, would be to keep his losses among all white voters at the same level John Kerry did in 2004, when he lost them by 17 points, 58-41. This would be a step backwards for Obama, who lost among all whites in 2008 by only 12 points (55-43). Obama can afford to drop to Kerry’s white margins because, between 2008 and 2012, the pro-Democratic minority share of the electorate is expected to grow by two percentage points and the white share to decline by the same amount, reflecting the changing composition of the national electorate.

Recent polling suggests Obama’s current support among non-college whites remains mired about where is was for Democrats in 2010. However, Obama has largely maintained his support with white college grads, still within the margin of error of that 47% he won in 2008. If he erodes much further in that demographic, it is also unlikely that he would be able to achieve the alternate target for the overall white vote.

Obama’s precarious position in this regard explains the increasingly negative, hysterical and defamatory campaign being waged by Team Obama, promoted by various establishment media outlets at different times over the past few weeks, culminating in the full flowering of Romney Derangement Syndrome at this week’s end. Team Obama must increasingly rely on the “otherization” of Romney (and his church) of the sort the very same people roundly condemned and marginalized when attempted against Obama in 2008. Indeed, Obama started painting himself into his current corner during the 2008 primaries. Obama ran — and has largely governed — against the Clintonian version of the Democratic Party, now extending to Obama’s weakening of welfare reform. It is thus not terribly surprising that Obama’s tenuous grip on white college grads has become the flashpoint of the 2012 campaign.

Your post admits you cannot dispute any of the facts
which impugn the Romney MYTH.

Can you defend his support of global warming?

HOW about your defend Mr. RomneyCARE’s support of MORE TAXES
when he calls them ‘fees’?

???

That wasn’t EEGator’s statement. It was that she makes Behar “seem tolerable”. I consider the tired, played, predictable, same-old posts to be annoying. She’s got the right to post them obsessively and I’ve got the right to find said behavior annoying.

NAACP does not consist of ‘moderates’. Just what is this guy’s worldview? That’s one of the strangest statements I think I’ve ever seen uttered by a politician.

LOL nice.

However, nothing has ever inspired me the way the Michigan tree speech did.

A vote for any third party candidate is a vote for Obama.

A vote for Romney in the following states: * Hawaii * CA * OR * WA * IL * MN * NY * NJ * VT * Maine * CT * Delaware * MD * DC (district) * MA

= a sanction for a pro-abortion, big govt, socialist healthcare pioneer candidate and a sanction for RINOism and a vote vs. conservative principles.

Even from a pragmatic utilitarian post-modern political relativist angle -- which many FREEPERs have bought into -- a vote FOR Romney in ANY of the above states would not help Romney win. We live in an electoral system; second place in those states only helps on horseracing bets.

Also...at least as far as FREEPERs go...if you subtract 100% of FREEPER votes (& give them to Virgil Goode) in the conservative states noted in the chart below, Romney would still win those states. Your pro-Romney vote -- unlike what Moonshot has said -- won't matter...in those states. The most that Romney moonbeam utilitarian arguments could even count is within swing states listed below:

Weird chart.

Some of you people are just F-ing crazy! You've seen the damage wrought by Obama the past three years, yet you save your disdain and outrage for Romney (not just this thread...many, many others).

Lets forget the staggering debt this monster (Obama) has heaped on our children and grandchildren; consider the most recent travesties by Obama: 1) closing 9 Border Patrol Offices, 2) Refusing to enforce Federal Immigration Laws, 3) signing an Executive Order this past week basically gutting Welfare Reform...etc! But no, your outrage isn't directed at what you've witnessed Obama do WHILE President; nope, you save your venom and outrage for Romney. And to help you cover your sorry asses, you use the tired, unhinged line that: “Obama and Romney are one in the same!”

Whether we like it or not, Romney won the majority of electoral votes in the state primaries. So please spare us your bullsh*t that Romney got where he did because of the GOP-e. They have power, but they didn't hold a gun to these voters heads and make them pull the lever for Romney.

If Obama wins, part of the blame will fall on those of you who will engage in one of the following unhinged antics: 1) voting third party, 2) doing a write-in (where it's allowed), and 3) not voting.

Here's a clue: OBAMA IS THE ENEMY...NOT ROMNEY!

IF you could be honest, and it is clear you cannot
then you would ADMIT that NO ONE on Planet Earth ever helped Obama
more than Myth Romney and his Legion of Backstabbers.

A vote for Romney is a vote for Obama is a vote for the death of America.

Seriously folks, Romney has a natural 22% draw from the Republican base ~ that's all he's got. That's his class of people.

The rest of the factions in the Republican party just don't like the guy ~ mostly because he's a cultural and political failure, obnoxious, and has a really bad record on the issues that count to the greater part of the party.

Just because you could use money to leverage him in doesn't mean you should run him.

Romney is a guaranteed loss ~ not just the least likely candidate to beat Obama, but should he win by accident, it'd be just like having another four years of Obama anyway!

You have two putative candidates here ~ Obama and Romney. They are not different in any meaningful measurement.

I've practically gone hoarse saying that, over the last couple of months.

So that this doesn't happen again we have to run the small GOP-e faction OUT OF THE PARTY. They already planned to lose to Obama so there's nothing I can do about their death wish, but I certainly can work to make sure they are REMOVED.

The presidency is lost to conservatives this go-round. I've already thrown in the towel on that. I only still comment about it, because we're being forced to ride a train which is heading straight to hell. I don't like it one bit, and I'm gonna bitch about it.

I'm in Texas, so all of my attention and intention is on the successful election of Ted Cruz, who is the Tea Party favorite down here for US Senate. I'll soon begin watching the House races to see who I need to get behind there.

This is what I can do within the system. All else will be pure resistance, however I can manage it. God help us.

So then you knew that Romney balanced the budget as governor, right?

So then you knew that Romney governed as a conservative, and supported conservative causes and programs as governor, right?

So then you are speculating that a Republican controlled House and Senate would help Romney in his conservative endeavors for the US, right?

hahahahahahahahahahhah!!!!!!!

Thank God you posted those links and that picture. I haven’t seen them in at least a couple of hours. I was getting worried.

Romney sucks, Obama sucks more...it’s that simple.

Hmm, you seem incapable of understanding the dilemma. No, we haven't failed to rage against Obama and his evil minions, but apparently you didn't listen to us about another acolyte of the anti-christ named Romney.

This crowd is all the same.

All of them must be rejected.

BTW, i vote in Virginia. Romney allowed his running dog lackeys to trick the primary so there was no choice except him or Ron Paul.

He seems happy with that ~ he's a CROOK!
