President Barack Obama will attend two fundraisers Monday in Connecticut, a state where he is facing an alarming decline in both political contributions and in some recent polling.
Obama will head to the Stamford Marriott Hotel for a $500-per-person reception first. Then, he will be whisked off to the home of film producer Harvey Weinstein, where tickets to the dinner start at $35,800 per person.
With the two fundraisers, Obama aims to close the wide gap between Obama and presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney in the Constitution state. Backed by a surge of Wall Street support, Romney has more than doubled Obama's total in the state, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
By comparison, Obama more than doubled the Connecticut fundraising totals of Republican nominee John McCain in 2008.
But money isn't the only problem for Obama in Connecticut. His lead over Romney in a recent Public Policy Polling survey shrunk to just 8 points, four years after he beat McCain by 23 points.
Looking deeper into the poll reveals that Obama's problems in this campaign also resonate in states that are seen as "safe" for him, like Connecticut.
Men actually prefer Romney by a 6-point margin in the state...

Connecticut is a mortal lock for Obama, so you are correct to “Huh?” in that sense. But he’s having trouble raising money even in deep-blue Connecticut and some other places that were gushers of money in 2008.
And there is a lot of money in Connecticut. Many liberal elitist types. So, what gives?
say what??????????
Yeah, there is a massive disconnect. If we are wrong, then Zero will win in a titanic landslide. But if we are right, then VA, FL, OH, MI, WI, MO, NM, NV, NH will all go to Romney, and possibly even a few more.
There is no way in Hades that Obama is in danger of losing the Communist State of Connecticut. I can’t even imagine him losing Pennslyvania.
CT is a lock for Obama, but dropping 15% from 2008 is significant. Romney has to nationalize the election as much as possible, challenging Obama in any state that is close so that the far left has to spread their resources out.
most appropriate since CT itself has gone to the dogs. A phenomenon of which Stamford itself is a disgusting object lesson.
I believe it. There’s wealth in CT. People are now looking out for the interests of their families. It’s too risky giving Obama another four. People have had enough hope and change and the first historic black president crap. New Jersey is going red too.
.
unexpectently.
What an odd amount $38,500, is it a discount from $50,000?
They are playing up his “troubles” to help with fund raising.
CT is bluer than NJ, which has more EVs.
Things are not looking good for zero.

Somebody should explain to Harvey Weinstein that Obama intends to allow the annihilation of Israel.
All those rich limosine liberals having second thoughts about raising taxes.
Oddly, it seems that much of that large segment of Jewish Democrat voters agree with Obama that Israel is evil and should be destroyed.
I would like to know what movies Weinstein is involved in so I will be sure not to go.
He knows and doesn’t care. He’s a faux-Jew.
Let's see here...If I am a wealthy NE democrat...Obama had been demonizing me for four years now telling me I'm not paying my fair share of taxes and need to belly up some more of MY hard earned income...all the while he is spending money faster than we can print it...
Yeah... I might think ...OK it's been fun and we had a great time pretending to be this great superior person who voted for the black guy who promised rainbows and unicorns...but the party is over...
I can easily see how a NE liberal can see himself pulling the lever for another NE RINO Romney...
