Democrats see same-sex marriage as issue that will mobilize voters

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)

Video: Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring has concluded that the state's ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional and he will no longer defend it in federal lawsuits.

Public opinion on same-sex marriage has shifted so dramatically in recent years that Democratic groups now see the issue as a critical way to mobilize voters in a slew of races up and down the ballot.

Just a decade ago, widespread opposition to gay marriage did just the opposite, allowing Karl Rove to mobilize conservatives in 13 states and help reelect George W. Bush as president.

The changing political dynamics were on full display this week as Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herring (D) announced he would not defend the state’s ban on same-sex marriage on the grounds that it was unconstitutional. Herring won a close election with strong support from gay-rights groups, and his decision infuriated conservatives, who accused him of violating his oath to uphold state laws.

Ballot initiatives on same-sex marriage are already in the works in Oregon, and possibly Indiana and Ohio, this fall...

When I look in a catalogue and see battery-operated female things and pills for guy's boners, I get repulsed.

Same thing for gay marriage.

In EVERY STATE that homosexual marriage has been placed on the ballot, the voters in those states DEFEATED it.

That was true until 2012, when it won in Maine, Maryland, and Washington state. I have no doubt it would win in California, if it went to a vote again.

American attitudes are shifting left. We need to win Americans over to Conservative values if we're going to reverse this.

Not true!! Please so not lie because it does not make us credible. I know for a fact that Maryland voted for it.

I don't know if it'll ever be possible to reverse it, but it's crucially important to understand how we lost this issue if we want to win the next one. The biggest problem I see is that we keep taking to ourselves rather than engaging the rest of the county. Which is why people keep posting here that gay marriage has never won a popular vote anywhere.

We also need to find ways to avoid or limit spending our money on companies that promote the homosexual agenda.

It's not a lie, it was a mistake. I was corrected above.

You do understand the difference between a mistake and a lie don't you?

The polls say that folks are supportive, now, but I think that they will get a belly full of the activists pushing themselves on every florist, caterer, bakery, church, etc. simply to make a political point. I foresee lawsuits against the Catholic Church, especially, since they don't like the Church's teaching against homosexuality, and they will try to force Catholic parishes to hold same sex 'marriages', or have their tax exempt status taken away.

I think Catholic Churches should stop doing the civil part of marriages entirely, and not be an agent of the State. They could do Sacramental Marriages ONLY, within the teachings of the Church, and that precludes same sex marriage.

Worse, when he was accused of planning to do this during the election, he denied it, and the news media denounced the claims as lies.

Also, he actually voted FOR it. So now I’d like someone to force him to explain why he would vote for something he thought was unconstitutional.

Or when the constitution changed.

Well, we see same-sex marriage as a critical way to mobilize voters against the perverse candidates who are running in favor of this inane notion. Sounds like organizing for "gay marriage" a desperation move of a 'Rat Party in deep trouble.

It's more than a moral issue. It's a fiscal issue as well. "Gay marriage" offers some "newlyweds" the availability of government goodies that they couldn't have qualified for otherwise, so legalizing it would increase government spending on all levels. Of course, handing out more and more from government has been a core "principle" of the 'Rat Party for decades.

Democrats protect women about as well as Jeffery Dahmer protected his dinner guests.

I'd laugh at that if it weren't so serious - if you know what I mean.

It is amazing that the Democrats and the MSM think they have convinced 51% of the country that the demands of 2% of the country should dominate the election.

Until 2012. Didn't it finally win in Maine and a few other states? If courts keep telling voters that they are wrong, eventually the voters cave.

Yes, and it's their arrogance and cockiness about it, which exudes from the posted WaPo article here, that should motivate us, the opposition, to work hard to beat them at the polls.

BTW, not all homosexuals are in favor of same-sex marriage.
