HOUSTON, Texas—The enormous growth of the Hispanic population does not seem to be turning Texas blue as fast as many political pundits expected. Recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau revealed a decreasing non-Hispanic white population and a rapidly growing Hispanic population. The growth of the Hispanic population over the past fourteen years was expected to make a huge difference in Texas’ Republican vs. Democrat voting patterns. It appears it has not.
A report in the Washington Post indicates this may not be the case. The article by Philip Bump, contains a series of interactive demographic maps that illustrate several different views of Hispanic population density and Republican/Democrat voting history. The report indicates more whites died than were born last year. On the other hand, both the Hispanic and Asian communities grew in population percentage.
“The popular thinking is that the change in the American population portends bad news for a Republican Party that's still heavily dependent on support from those older, whiter voters,” Bump states. “Our thinking: What better place to track how that evolution might occur than Texas.”
The report compares the 2000 and 2012 presidential election results and compares them to Hispanic population density in Texas. It concludes that while there was a close link between the density of a county’s Hispanic population and its support for Democrat candidates, the voting pattern for that county did not change as the county became less white and more Hispanic.

Most Hispanics are Christian and have at least some family values. The democratic party is the party of evil.
This has been tackled before very succinctly. While the state is seeing some modest change, the fact is Hispanics who settle in Texas (while still voting majority Democrat) have a smaller split between the parties than in other states. Other than perhaps Florida, Texas actually has probably the highest percentage of conservative Hispanic voters.
For all its faults (Cornyn), the Texas GOP is one of the better state parties. In fact, it ranks right up there in the top 5. The resistance to the grassroots is a lot weaker, and the candidates make very good cases for conservatism.
If the state parties of the nation were more like Texas, Illinois would be very competitive in a Midterm cycle, and Alaska would never elect scum like Begich.

If it were to turn out that recently naturalized Hispanic immigrants were voting majority Republican, you would see a 300-foot-high, 50-foot-thick wall, topped with remote-controlled miniguns, rocket launchers and electrified razor wire built in a matter of weeks. Land mines on both sides of it. A half-mile killing zone on the US side, patrolled by military guard dogs with steel inlays in their teeth.
There could be several explanations, but one is that it’s generally accepted that about 1/3 of the Hispanics in the US are here illegally. Some illegals probably vote, but a huge majority probably don’t.
So, a significant percentage of Hispanics in the US don’t vote, which is the main reason the Dims are frothing at the mouth to pass amnesty, and the main reason any Republican is a self-destructive fool to support amnesty.
Sorry for being so pessimistic. Bush II was our last hope. But he fumbled the ball, and the opposition ain't giving the ball back.
I work EVERY DAY with Hispanics, in Texas, lots of them.
The ones that I work with, other than their names, and varying degrees of accents, are IDENTICAL to the whites I work with, especially when it comes to politics - and yes, they are CONSERVATIVE.
The Dems are not going to get very far with Hispanics here by nominating a FLAMING LIBERAL, educated in the Northeast, who hates men. Maybe that can work in California, but not in Texas.
This story could have been written in 1991 about California.
And it’s not just about hispanics, although that’s huge.
The political, economic and media elite live in cities that lean strongly Democrat (Austin, Houston, Dallas, San Antonio) — they look on the Republican suburban and rural majority as alien and out of touch, and are teaching that majority’s children exactly that. Outside of frat row, the politics at students at UT, A&M and Rice couldn’t be differentiated from that of students at UCLA or Rutgers.
The other party is the party of “Hail Satan,” isn’t it?

Which is why a man I know told his son (they live in Florida) that the boy had the choice of going to Florida Baptist College for ALL FOUR YEARS or paying his own way to U of F or where ever. FBC does not permit freshmen or I think sophomores to have automobiles either on campus or garaged in the small city it is located in. The kid is not happy but will comply. I strongly suggest others do likewise and find a small evangelical if possible religiously oriented 4 year undergrad college rather than let their sons and daughters be debauched by the corrupt student culture of some place like LSU or U of F and brain washed by the collectivist leftist faculty.
That has been my experience also. One of my hispanic friends I met in the early 80s. Whenever Ronald Reagan was on TV he would shush the heck out of people to shut the heck up so he could listen to his favorite president.
Most hispanics live their lives as conservatives. The only reason they will vote for a democrat is because they are lacking in political knowledge.
Can they have motorcycles, motor boats, hang gliders?

A&M has the largest Corps of Cadets in the country outside the military academies.
Only 22% of voters in Texas are hispanic. So many are illegal, guest workers or under 18. It would still be decades before the state turns blue.
The GOP get 80% of the white vote in Texas and only around 50% of the white vote in California. That is a bigger difference.
