The left is for free speech, until a Conservative tries to speak at a school, then they protest, threaten people with death, and force that speech to be canceled..the leftist motto, free speech for ME but NOT for THEE

Translation: this is the mainstream media saying to the Left: “You better shut up about this! Every time one of you idiots takes a knee, we lose another seat in the House of Representatives in 2018!”

If CNN is saying President Trump is on the right side of the American People, THEN IT MUST BE REALLY BAD!

people that are going to any nfl game this Sunday should start singing “God Bless America” anytime during the game. Start it anytime. If one section starts it, it will spread thru the stadium in minutes.Do it multiple times if you have to. middle of the first quarter, begining of the second quarter, etc..etc..

you LISTENED to them??

I hope some of you are not so addicted to
the sport that you will sell out our country by supporting
the NFL either by attending games or funding them in other ways.

America’s FUTURE IS at STAKE right now I hope people realize!!

They are miscalculating. ESPN ratings are down and network football ratings are stagnant. Increasing numbers of parents are discouraging their kids from playing because of potential injuries. Football wasn't always the dominant major sport and it doesn't have to be in the future.

It wasn't that long ago that horse racing and boxing were considered major sports on a par with football.

It was pretty amazing listening to sports radio here in Jacksonville, Florida yesterday. The hosts were 100% pro-kneeler all day. All strictly followed the party line. Just like the USSR. Just another example of why Trump won.

The NFL is in a corner. Trump has won. TV ratings are going to continue to decline and attendance at the games is going to start to decline. More empty seats each week. The NFL will continue to have pregame demonstrations which will turn off the fans even more.

I’m a city administrator in rural Minnesota. While I’ll admit that we are in a more conservative area than some parts of the state and those here are a fair bit more “right” than most public sector folks; I was stunned to hear some of the more left of center folks here expressing loud and clear outrage over the NFL protests.

I’m only one of two right-of-center (right of Attila the Hun in my case) city administrators I know so I’ve come to expect to hear comments that are far more liberal than I’d like at the proverbial water cooler - but the open, negative reaction to the NFL stuff by my staff is a shock to me.

It is anecdotal evidence to be sure but based on what my own eyes are seeing here on the ground the NFL absolutely nuked their reputation.

Anecdotes from all over the place add up, in my opinion. Lots of people here have shared similar stories the last few days.

They care about, what Tom Wolfe called, status-spheres. People live in their own sphere and they gain or lose status within that sphere. To the New York CEOs and their top execs, the Trump voters are a mystery. They have no idea how Hillary lost (neither does she).

OMG! The most insightful thing i've read today. It's seldom that I see people mentioning this phenomena, and yet it underpins so much of Liberal thought.

Look at a good portion of the country now backing the bashing of our flag and anthem. They’re ready to be invaded by illegals or ‘refugees’ or anyone else because they’ve been lied to about the founding of our country and what we stand for in the world.

Actually I see it as a continuation of the Civil War in which Big City Urban Liberals learned to hate Rural people with conservative ideas who wouldn't keep up with the latest proclaimed moral outrage which the Big City Liberals want to make into their "crises du jour."

We are basically still fighting the Hamiltonians against the Jeffersonians.

Good point re city sharpies vs. the hicks. That’s essentially American politics today with half the population in the big cities who don’t understand the ‘red state’ Americans have no desire to do so. Their understanding is cartoonish - meth-addicted Christian homophobic inbreds. And that’s just what they think of New Jersey.

The fanbase of the NFL are the red state Trump voter working class folks. This was a business suicide decision.

I would expect the hostility between urban and rural to continue and escalate.

With one round of nukes, North Korea could make America Republican for decades to come as the most likely targets would be large cities. Even Los Angels and New York blown off the map would make us significantly more conservative.

Check out the novel PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC for an entertaining exploration of the Union dissolving and the aftermath. It’s a quick read.

There appear to be a few different books with that title. What’s the author of the one you are recommending?

Why do the large cities trend liberal?

Homosexuals congregate there from whatever small towns are within hundreds of miles so they can find likeminded folks. Blacks congregated in the large cities to provide manual labor and fall into the trap of handouts, free housing, and breed in higher proportion to other races. The intelligencia flocks there to work in the universities and museums. Other minority groups wind up in the large cities. Politics in most of the big cities is either dominated by an African-American mayor and his political machine or some coalition built to compete with such a machine.

Politically and socially city dwellers trend to the left and are ‘tolerant’ about anything, except the rural folks (conservatives, Trump voters).

Trump’s managed through to appeal to the city working class as well - the Nixon/Reagan voter who seems himself displaced and passed up by minorities and sees his values (flag, God) under attack.

The big cities have made the difference in elections though. Big cities and women voting majority Democrat. They’ve prevented Republicans from winning every election for the last 50 years.

Trump interestingly ran against BOTH parties. A key moment in his campaign was when he repudiated the invasion of Iraq and Bush legacy. His positions on The Wall and America first are at odds with the establishment RINOs and echoed Buchanan’s ill-fated campaign where he warned NAFTA would kill American manufacturing.

Trump is also hated by the MSM because he was ‘in the club’ - he was a New York billionaire who knows all the players. He gave money to the Clintons, Schumer, all of them. But he identified with the Average Joe and ran as a wild card outside the system. He’s of the elite, but connects with the average man. Some of his elite mores (multiple wives, okay with gay marriage) slip through, but he’s forgiven because he’s all we got. He’s the only one capable of winning who is willing to take on the big boys like the NFL. Who else would have the balls to call them out?

To sum:

1. Why do liberal politics and social mores dominate in the major cities?

2. How can Trump make inroad into those voters, which the Republicans need to not become an irrelevant party?
