e mail links for sponsors of "The Reagans"
Free Republic PA Board ^ | Oct. 24, 2003 | Owl_Eagle and Dr. Scarpetta

Posted on 10/24/2003 7:56:35 AM PDT by End Times Sentinel

(Boy, I hope this works)
Dr. Scarpetta posted the list of sponsors for CBS's upcoming "Reagan Rip Job" movie to the PA board this morning.  I've compiled a list of links to e mail the sponsors so we can let them know exactly what we think of them helping to spread slanderous lies about one of the finest Presidents we've ever had.  If the links work like they should, you should go directly to a page to email them.

If anyone can find e mail addresses for the four that I couldn't, please post.

Thank you Dr. Scarpetta!!!

CBS = "See BS"

Perhaps citizens of FreeRepublic common-sense-ville should each pick up a few (or many) shares of Viacom (CBS parent company). There could be a few shareholder-initiated proposals to vote on during the next annual meeting of the stockholders!!

Got this from Monster.com

Dear XXXXX,

We have received several emails similar to yours in regards to the rumor that Monster is sponsoring the movie on Ronald Reagan in November on the CBS Network. It is very important that I send you some clarification about this subject, as there is a great deal of incorrect information circulating about Monster's advertising plans. Monster is not advertising on CBS during the month of November, and has never had plans to do so.

Thank you,

Lisa

Are we sure of the sponsor, or are they bailing?

So, I called my local target and asked for the manager.

Waste of time. You should have asked for the corporate number and drill down to their pr dep't.

Let's see Pontiac, Chebby, and Saturn. GM Junk. Don't worry they've been on my boycot list since '73.

Yup. I really do want an H2 though to park next to my Mini Cooper S and 325i.

I clicked on the United link in the article and it took me to US Airways. I think the original link text is wrong and should read US Airways instead of United. Can someone fix this? We need to be accurate if we are attacking base on inaccuracy.

Some info is wrong in the sponsors list. The United Airlines link points to US Airways. United says they have bought no time on CBS in November. The text needs to be changed to US Airways.

I have emailed each of the links that had an email page.

Replies so far:
Gillette auto responder thinks my email is a resume; stupid responder. Generic replies from Chevy, Saturn, and Lean Cuisine

Monster.com says they have not bought any advertising time on CBS in November at all. Ericsson replied "Ericsson is not a sponsor or advertiser on 'The Reagans', nor are we sponsoring any television programming in the United States."

We need to revise the sponsors list. We need to be accurate since we are attacking on the grounds that CBS is inaccurate.

From US Airways.

Thank you for your e-mail.

The information you have received is incorrect. Please allow me to clarify that US Airways is not a sponsor of the movie referred to in your e-mail.

Thank you for giving us the chance to respond to your concerns, Mr. XXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Sincerely,
Scott E. Sebastian

Who came up with this advertisers list? I beginning to feel stupid for emailing these busnesses.

I got emails back today from Erriksen (sp?) and Lean Cuisine, thanking me for my concern but saying they do not have any ads scheduled to run during the Reagan movie. Are they just covering their @ssets?

This is the response I just received from the General Manager of my local CBS affiliate:

Dear John: Let me tell you right off that I'm a Ronald Reagan fan and a proud conservative. I don't begin to condone what CBS is apparently planning to do. But as much as it may anger and frustrate me (and it does!), I can not refuse to air this mis-guided miniseries. It's not a matter of fortitude, it's about censorship. And, John, once that door opens, it never ever shuts.

What I'm encouraging folks to do is simply not watch it. Networks survive on ratings. Watch something else those two nights. Read a book. Talk (what a concept!). I can assure you that I won't be watching that telecast.

In the meantime, we at WTOC are beginning work right now on a news series dealing with President Reagan, to air that same week in November, which will provide a much fairer view of his stunning legacy.

Thanks for taking the time to share your frustration about this arrogant and insensitive "project" with me in writing. And thank you very much for your current service to our nation, which in itself is helping to sustain President Reagan's efforts to keep us (and much of the world) free.

Best wishes,
XXXXXX
VP & General Manager

We apologize for the delay. Due to volume it's taking longer for us to get back to you.

Thank you for contacting us with your concern. This gives us the opportunity to provide you with some additional information.

Hallmark was not involved in the production of "The Reagans" miniseries airing on CBS and is not a sponsor of the program. By virtue of its international distribution network, Hallmark Entertainment Inc. distributes many films produced by other companies to international audiences, and this movie will be one of those. We suggest you relate your concerns about the program's content to CBS.

We respect your views and appreciate the time you took to share them.

Thanks,

Jan Scott
Hallmark Consumer Care

Original Message Follows:

Message: I understand you are about to sponsor a TV movie/miniseries called 'The Reagans.' I further understand, based on partial transcripts of the dialogue and comments from the actors and screenwriters, that there are a number of depictions and quotes from the President and Nancy Reagan that are patently false and made up out of thin air. Clearly this is an attempt to besmirch the name and legacy of the Reagans for whatever political agenda that lies underneath, and is nothing short of
despicable.

If this program airs, I will personally boycott not only CBS, Hallmark, and any sponsor willing to have their names mentioned in concert with this slanderous program.

I further intend to actively recruit anyone within the sound of my voice or the reach of my keyboard to do the same. How absolutely shameful!

TRAITOR!
