Honestly, I think this is more of an Arab cultural thing than a Muslim thing.

I once knew a nominally Muslim guy who was dating a fellow Arab-American who happened to be Christian. The girl's "Christian" father killed her, rather than let her bring shame on to his family.

I could try to understand if the girl fooled around willingly and the culture is incredibly strict about promiscuity. But killing your own child because she was raped? I can't see any fair moral rule that would apply. Obviously the woman is blamed for the incident even if she's a rape victim.
