A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....11-24-03....Military Monday
Aquamarine; Billie

A Few of FR's Finest
....Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I had been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that didn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.
There's more of course. We sometimes feature different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!
If you would like to be featured, or would like to see someone else featured, please send me a private FR mail.
Every Monday we will post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :)   If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.
Thank you, and please have fun with us...every day! ~ Billie

Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. —Proverbs 16:19

Seek ye first, not earth's aspirings,
Ceaseless longings, vain desirings,
But your precious soul's requirings—
Seek ye first! Anon.

Those who follow the crowd soon become part of the crowd.

Good Morning Aqua, Billie, everyone. A fine tribute as always.

Thinking this morning of the 2 Ohio National Guard units - that I know of - soon to be deployed, and of the fine men and women who serve in them.

Prayers lifted for them and their families.

Thanks for contributing as we gather here to honor the great men and women in the Armed Services.

A quick update on our middle son Jeff. His R&R was way too short. He arrived back in Mosul day before yesterday, but the good thing is that he only has about 3 months left, hopefully he will be home by the first part of March. So once again Mrs ladtx and I will be on "worry alert" until he gets back on Texas soil again. A military family is always on the go it seems. Mrs ladtx just returned from helping our oldest and his family move from Elsworth AFB, SD to Pensacola NAS, FL. She did 9 states in 4 days and 4 of them twice. I joined the convoy when it passed through the DFW Metroplex and made the trip to Pensacola with them. What a trip, 2 kids, one two years old and the other 6 weeks, plus two animals, a real traveling zoo. But, it was worth it to see Leila and Ashley together.

What a beautiful pledge graphic *and* welcome graphic (((((Aqua))))) - thank you for bringing us a most important thread.

Dear Father, we beg You to place Your bloodline of protection around our military members. Please protect them the way that they protect us with their selfless acts. The latest heinous murders that have been perpetrated upon our troops are cowardly and sinful. Please, we ask You that no more of our wonderful troops are subject to that kind of awful act.

We ask You, too, that You help us all to understand that we must show our thanks to all Military members, past and present for all that they have done to ensure our freedom.

I especially pray for those that are demonstrating at Ft. Benning, GA in the name of "peace" -calling our soldiers "baby-killers" and "mercenaries for the government." Please allow these people to see the idiocy of their actions.

We ask these favors of You as Your humble and contrite servants in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

(((((((HUGS))))))) to all.

God bless our armed forces and all who wait at home.

This has been a tough few months for our military over in Iraq and Afghanistan. But they say it's always darkest right before the dawn, so maybe things are on the verge of getting better over there.
I know alot of good progress is being made that the news outlets are reporting.

God Bless Our Military

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Mama_Bear; Dansangel; Dutchess; Aquamarine and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nation's leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~

We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Great graphic! Have you ever noticed how the democrats always called the Republican Party the rich fat cats, that have all the money? Now they have their own billionaire that says he'll pay for everything to keep the democrats in power and that's just great with the dems.

Found a great picture of Reagan if you ever need it for one of your graphics.

I don't have Photo Deluxe, although I think Dan does on his 'puter. It's Adobe, right? He got it with a scanner I gave him eons ago.

He and I both have Paint Shop Pro which is not a very user friendly program, although the updated version 8.0 is certainly an improvement. I can make backgrounds and enhance graphics. I've done all of my "Welcome" graphics lately, some pledges and I've even made a couple of animations, but there is still so much to learn. When I have "free time" (what *is* that?) I play in it and learn more.

Yep ! The 'RATS are all about power, period. Hypocrisy is no stranger to them. They are elated to have Soros' deep pockets don't ya know !?

And, thanks for the Reagan pic. I've saved it in my folder for future reference as needed ...

Thanks Aqua, you just made my day! :)

I know you posted that Reagan graphic for Dansangel but I'm gonna borrow it, if that's okay. I just love that man so much. I checked out Margaret Thatcher's autobiography The Downing Street Years and it has several sections of photographs mostly black and whites. The ones in the center section are in color which is where President Reagan and Nancy's are. My favorite is one where Maggie is giving a speech at a dinner and Reagan is sitting to her right, hanging on her every word. He wrote an inscription on the bottom of the picture about how much he appreciated and admired her as leader and friend. All I can say is, what character and class! Both of them. I'll try to scan them but it may be difficult because the book is extremely thick.

Thank you, Aqua, for bringing us the tribute to our Military today; we thank them every day for their duty to and protection of our country.

Your pledge graphic is just beautiful, and I love the 'door's are always open' graphic!
