December 9, 2003 -- IT'S payback time for Al Gore. Dissatisfied at how thoroughly forgotten he is among active Democrats and resentful of all the attention Sen. Hillary Clinton, his White House rival, is getting, Al has reportedly decided to flank the Clintons by backing Howard Dean for president.

Exactly what I thought. Dick Morris is a finger-in-the-wind analyst, but he's right on here: Lyin' Al is sick of not being the starmaker of the party. He's goin' for broke.

Gee, I thought Gore was a pro-business Republican now that he is on the Apple Board of Directors.

She sees the decade-long reign of sanity in the Democratic Party leadership coming to an end and is determined to make it in the brave new world.

After reading that line, I was sure that the toe-sucker is still just that. Wonder which decade he meant.

With or without Gore's backing, Dean's primary threat to the eternally and thoroughly corrupt clintons lies not in 2004 but rather in 2008 when name recognition from the 2004 campaign will propel him rather than the ugly one to the top. We must accept the possibility that 2008 will bring a less formidable opponent than we currently have in GWB. Let the games begin!

Best regards,
Penny

Gore has always been a patsy in the entire scene who was forgotten before he ran for president. Everyone knew Gore was a moron with no chance of winning. He would take a fall so that Hillary could run in '04.

Actually, I see this as a cold calculation by the Tree to set up his own run in 2008. Even he knows Dean will get torched by Dubya next year, but by backing him now, he helps leverage the DNC away from his would-be opponent, Hitlery. The RAT race in 2008 is shaping up to be the mother of all blood feuds with Algore squaring off against the Clintons.

Well my personal conspiracy theory was that Wesly Clark was put in as a decoy by the Clintons. When the convention fails to nominate a candidate the first round the delegates would be free to vote for anyone. Wesly steps aside and nominates Hillary. Everyone rushes forward as she is seen as the one to beat the president. She gets the nomination without getting beat up in the democrat primaries. Now she can deflect all critisism from Republicans as vast right wing conspiracy talk. She surges ahead on the estrogen vote and the liberal vote. I always thought she was positioning herself for 2004. In 2008 Mcauliff won't be the head of the DNC and the Clinton magic will be gone.
Anyway, that's the way I had it figured. But be careful who you screw over, Gore seems to have thrown a monkey wrench in the works. If Dean gets full backing Hillary fades to the background. In 2008 if a Dem is president she has to wait until 2012. I don't think she can avoid prison till then unless she pardons herself.
Oh well, that was my take on it.

I think Algore wants revenge against Hitlery. It was Hitlery who was responsible for Algore having to back out of the running this time. She holds the purse strings and along with McAwful and her bubba hubba control the DNC and the money. Dean has already said if he gets the 'nod' he is going to fire McAwful immediately and get control of the DNC. What could be a better incentive for Algore to back Dean? There is terrible bitter blood between the Klintons and the Gores. The only way for Algore to have any prominance in the party at all is to get the klintons out of the way...and who better to do it than DEAN.

That is the MOST on the $$ post I've read in a very long time. This election cycle is just as much about the control of the DNC and the '08 election as it is the '04 election. I hope I'm right, but personally, I think the GOP has a chance for a landslide victory in '04....especially with Dean on the DNC ticket. The jockeying for position in the DNC is a sideshow that is going to get very interesting. Lots of colorful characters....vengance...gossip...all of which is going to make a superior 'soap-opera'. Let's sit back and enjoy the show.

I've had thoughts along those exact lines too, but it seems that Algore wants in the mix now. I was wondering how long he was going to sit on the side-lines. He wants the presidency so very bad I'm sure he can taste it. If he doesn't make a move soon, he's HISTORY! I also think he's got some big grudge against the klintooons because no matter how you look at it, it was Billy who lost that election for Al. There never was a clear strategy on how to handle the scandal problems and poor Al got caught with no easy solution. Boy, would I have loved to be a fly on the wall at their last meeting after the 2000 election. I'm quite sure the conversation was colorful...to say the least.

The Deanie Babies would run, not walk to the Green Party and Dean would lead them. I think it's possible, actually, that Hillary could create the New Democratic Party and become the leader of that and try to win in a 3-way race against Dean and Bush.

I disagree with Morris. Gore doesn't have the nads or he wouldn't have made such a good butt-boy for the Toons. This souunds to me like the Toons finally got something on Howie, and Gore is there to do what they tell him. Wonder what the Toons have on Howie?

"....decade-long reign of sanity in the Democrat party leadership"

You can bet that little Dicky is referring to the period of time when HE was advising Democrat leaders .

"Dean has mobilized this new power to get power; nowGore is using it to get his relevance back."

I might point out that one cannot get back what one never had.

As far as "maybe he just wants to be vice president again?" ....... No one is that delusional, are they?

BTW ....... I wonder how Lieberman is feeling today?

The General of the Feminazi's needs protection from criticism, she is NOT the "smartest woman in the world", but she may be the most calculating wench on the planet.

The fight we are witnessing is a battle for control of the Democratic Party.

Cynic that I am, it seems to me this is like fighting over the controls of the Titanic after it hit the iceberg.

Same thought here. 2008 will be the Dem battleground with two warring camps, one led by the Clintons, one by GoreDean.
