For some here, yesterday was a day of catharsis, a cleansing, a little rehab, some welcome therapy. After being saturated with Hillary all over (and I mean all over) The Sunday Morning Talk Shows, some of us were weary, frustrated and even a tad angry. I felt we could use an unburdening, an easement of sorts.
In an effort to relieve our exhaustion and an increasingly uncomfortable hostility toward the woman, I began a thread, Hillary Demands Nicknames for 2004 Election. It was some harmless fun, and at the same time lightened some souls. We were all aware that we would certainly not solve any of our serious political problems should she run next year, but offering a number of whimsical nicknames for her served to diminish some of our Hillary Fatigue.
Anyhow, as the thread moved along a funny thing happened, much by accident. One interested poster, LisaMalia, in an attempt to offer a suitable nickname for Hillary wrote, Great Thread! Although I ABHORE the word, I must say that when I see this poor excuse for a human being, the word that comes to mind starts with a c and ends with a t. And it aint cat.
I then decided to go to my trusty 1970 Rogets Thesaurus to locate a word starting with a c and ending with a t, a word that would be suitable for Hillary. And there it was, CLINQUANT.
In my excitement I posted something like this back to her, Clinquant - this is amazing. I was poking through my Rogets Thesaurus to see what word you were referring to, and I found this word. Not only does it begin with the letters clin, start with a c and end with a t, but listen to the words it's associated with. Fake, cheat, sham, phony, imposter. How perfect is that?
So it seems, just by chance or providence, we found a very fitting word for The Queen of Darkness. Then came the clincher, the coup de gras. Another poster then brilliantly pitched in, I was amused to see the letters compromising the originally intended word even occured in the same order embedded in the word Clinquant ........... (Hillary Clinton is a Clinquant without the LINQA)
That was the clincher.
So, from yesterdays whimsical therapy session comes a new, apt nickname for Hillary, from a word thats been around for a long time, a nickname that should go down in the history books with the likes of Black Bart, Little Caesar, Joe Bananas, Scarface, "The Boston Strangler, and Jack The Ripper, oh, ........ and Vlad The Impaler.

Btw, late in yesterday's thread it was noted by one freeper that 'clinquant' can also mean 'something with a false and showy glitter'. That fits too, but I'll go with Rogets - fake, cheat, sham, phony, and imposter. That works for me.
And all the other little delicacies of the word 'clinquant', that were noted by the other posters, just add to the flavor. I think this is a keeper.

And by the way, Senator Ted Kennedy has picked up a new nickname since he referred to the Conservative judges as "Neanderthals".
From now on, to me at least, he is "Homo-Chappaquiddus"!

HILLARY CLINQUANTNot bad. Not bad at all. It's an attention getter, too. The nickname has "grovitosh", a word the voters are well informend about (not by their own free will) these days.

I trust you will come to rely on Mia T's posts as an anecdote to Hillary's presence. She has been thoroughly deconstructed on Free Republic, along with her co-psychopathic husband.

Clinquant, I like it. I wonder how long it will take the media to pick up on this.
What is the derrivation of this word? I never heard of it before, but it sure sounds appropriate. It should be the mandatory word of the day for Freepers.

I agree that Mia T is brilliant, however, in my neighborhood the fastest internet I can get is 46.6kb, and it just takes too long for most of Mia's stuff to load. I get timed out and booted off the web. No solution for it, either. Very remote; old wires.

Actually, that should be coup de grace, not coup de gras. Natural mistake to make, though, since gras(se) is French for "fat."
To: thesummerwind
but listen to the words it's associated with. Fake, cheat, sham, phony, imposter. How perfect is that? Would love to know where you found these associated words.
my Theasaurus doesn't have it.
My crossword dictionary says Tinsel
and my big dictionary says ...glittering with or as with gold or silver; tinseled. Imitation gold leaf: tinsel
pronounced (kling'kent) but the e in kent is upside down. So how do you pronounce it?
and tho I LOVED your defination, this one doesn't compute.
To: thesummerwind
Hillary Clinquant....but don't forget the "Rodham", the name she so conveniently adds and removes from her moniker as it serves her purpose.
