Hillary Evolves Into A 'Clinquant'
self | 12/9/03 | self

For some here, yesterday was a day of catharsis, a cleansing, a little rehab, some welcome therapy. After being saturated with Hillary all over (and I mean all over) The Sunday Morning Talk Shows, some of us were weary, frustrated and even a tad angry. I felt we could use an unburdening, an easement of sorts.

In an effort to relieve our exhaustion and an increasingly uncomfortable hostility toward the woman, I began a thread, “Hillary Demands Nicknames for 2004 Election”. It was some harmless fun, and at the same time lightened some souls. We were all aware that we would certainly not solve any of our serious political problems should she run next year, but offering a number of whimsical nicknames for her served to diminish some of our ‘Hillary Fatigue’.

Anyhow, as the thread moved along a funny thing happened, much by accident. One interested poster, LisaMalia, in an attempt to offer a suitable nickname for Hillary wrote, “Great Thread! Although I ABHORE the word, I must say that when I see this poor excuse for a human being, the word that comes to mind starts with a ‘c’ and ends with a ‘t’. And it ain’t “cat.” ”

I then decided to go to my trusty 1970 Roget’s Thesaurus to locate a word starting with a ‘c’ and ending with a ‘t’, a word that would be suitable for Hillary. And there it was, CLINQUANT.

In my excitement I posted something like this back to her, “Clinquant” - this is amazing. I was poking through my Roget’s Thesaurus to see what word you were referring to, and I found this word. Not only does it begin with the letters ‘clin’, start with a ‘c’ and end with a ‘t’, but listen to the words it's associated with. Fake, cheat, sham, phony, imposter. How perfect is that?”

So it seems, just by chance or providence, we found a very fitting word for The Queen of Darkness. Then came the clincher, the coup de gras. Another poster then brilliantly pitched in, “ I was amused to see the letters compromising the originally intended word even occured in the same order embedded in the word ‘Clinquant’ ........... (Hillary Clinton is a Clinquant without the LINQA)

That was the clincher.

So, from yesterday’s whimsical therapy session comes a new, apt nickname for Hillary, from a word that’s been around for a long time, a nickname that should go down in the history books with the likes of “Black Bart”, “Little Caesar”, “Joe Bananas”, “Scarface”, "The Boston Strangler”, and “Jack The Ripper”, oh, ........ and “Vlad The Impaler”.

My 1970 version of Roget's Thesaurus.

The word "clinquant" is found therein, with the word "sham" beside it! It refers the reader to.....614.13.

After going to 614.13, the words therein illuminate "clinquant"; fake, phony, cheat, sham, mock, imitation, CLINQUANT, counterfeit, hoax, fraud, and imposter.

Any more questions?

I must admit though, there were no references to the 900 FBI Files or the travel office, or the rest of all the criminal stuff.

My Roget's is from 1970. Perhaps your copy is more recent. Bless you!

De ja' vu? A-n-o-t-h-e-r vanity?

I trust that today's vanity will not digress into the raunchy realm of yesterday's.

Heretofore, FR has not been a dating service or a forum for sexual inuendo.

my Theasaurus doesn't have it. My crossword dictionary says Tinsel and my big dictionary says ...glittering with or as with gold or silver; tinseled. Imitation gold leaf: tinsel

Dear UnVeiled Lady., please read post #1. You will see that your "recent" "meaning" has already been mentioned. It is a recent interpretation of the word.............sort of like a little Clinton political correctness.

I am assuming that you are a younger person.

Here is a clue for you. Trust the older source material!

It is generally more correct.

Only if you insist.

LOL, for the ones who were there.

It was somewhat a hoot, IMO.

No harm no foul? You think the moderators deleted your comments for the hell of it?

Why all the hostility?

Not hostility, dear. RESPECT for FR and its purpose. Get it?

Speaking of respect for FR, how about the above well-constructed and decent phrasing by onyx? Now, that shows great respect for FR! (not)

I guess since you're new, you don't realize you're not suppose to talk about other Freepers without pinging them, huh?

Whenever you mention another FReeper's name, it is a FR courtesy that you ping that person. In your case, please do not ever ping me again nor mention me in any of your posts.

Your post #199 from yesterday's thread EXPLICITLY explains my comments about you TO you. You trolled here, using the raunchiest of language and sexual inuendo, pretended to be a girl, then gave it up in #199. Your most vile and raw posts were deleted, thus saving you from disgrace today.
