A Day in the Life of President Bush (photos) 1.5.04

Pres. Bush traveled to St. Louis to promote his "No Child Left Behind" education law. Pres. Bush spoke at the Pierre Laclede Elementary School, which he said in his Saturday radio address had risen "to meet our new standards."

Pres. Bush also visited with about 50 fourth-graders. One asked Pres. Bush if he had wanted to be president when he was a child.

"No," Bush told the children, all nearly a decade shy of voting age. "It can be pretty hard." Still, he called his job "a very rewarding experience" and took credit for "a world that's more peaceful, (where) more kids are learning to read."

He also appeared at his first campaign fund-raiser of the year, adding to a record total of more than $110 million in contributions for a primary race in which he has no Republican opponent. Pres. Bush now has $120 Million in his campaign bank account.

On Thursday, the second anniversary of the signing of the No Child Left Behind Act, Pres. Bush will hold a similar event at West View Elementary School in Knoxville, Tenn. Both events are paired with re-election campaign fund-raisers.

I couldn't remember the name of the group. THANKS! Rush said that they held a contest for the "best" ad and that one was sent in by someone. You're right--that has nothing to do with it when they ran it.

I still think it's frightening that there is that much hate out there--for anyone! I also think that's why he keeps raising money--he's going to need it to combat all the hate and unreasonableness out there. He just HAS to win this election--many have said it--it's not just an election, but a battle of good vs. evil.

***In the end it is ONLY the character that matters.........***

And that's the truth, not just with the president, but with every one of us and everyone else.

If any of you - and any else I haven't included in the TO: field, would like to discuss the immigration issue, go for it.

We just don't appreciate a bomb getting dropped on us like spacebar did - who seems to have disappeared, which is fine with me.

To start - I believe I heard that Sec. Ridge said that something had to be done about the illegals who are here and have been working.

I think what has been proposed is that if an illegal has been here for 3 years, has been paying taxes (that's a good catch. Most of them don't!) they can file for citizenship but have to return to their Country of origin to do so.

I've also read that Pres. Bush is thinking about some kind of guest worker program, where if a person in Mexico has a job with a company in America, they can cross and stay here, for 3 years. Again, at the end of that time, no arrests, having paid taxes, they can file for citizenship.

I think from what I've written above, that doesn't exactly sound like an amnesty - where any and all illegals are suddenly granted citizenship.

And now? It's your turn.

I'd love to go! Are you going stir crazy, being stuck inside? Or are you glad not to "have" to go anywhere?

These same economists unanimously concluded that Bush will be reelected in 2004 because of the improvements in the economy and the job market.

From your pinkies to God's ears! May it be so. Truthy

To be honest, have been avoiding the topic because of the arguments.

Around here we have several meat packing plants. Several people who work there have told me that many "American's" refuse to work at the low-level jobs, and illegals are the only ones who will. Interesting, with the complaints of "no jobs."

At this time I don't know enough about it to take a stand. But I think I agree that illegals with a "good" record--paying taxes, no arrests, should get to apply for citizenship. I see only good in imposing some standards of behavior.

It just goes to show, yet again, that we need to learn what's going on so we can make an intelligent decision, NOT based on inflammatory statements that are not really true (like "millions" of illegals are granted amnesty).

It turns out that story had an onion smell to it.

I didn't realize it until someone pointed it out to me as well. LOL

It took our elder son 16 hours to get to the Twin Cities yesterday! (We normally make it in 12).

He said that Chicago was awful, and it remained bad through Rockford and all the way to Madison, with accidents everywhere.

We prayed him back to school!

Our daughter in Milwaukee said they got 7 inches of snow there.

Thank you for laying that out for me. I had no idea that they had suggested anything such as this. Which I believe is a better idea than giving all illegals amnesty. That's all I will say until I learn more.

What's the addage for the Media: Bad Press is still good press.

The folks at Meow.org say that they don't endorse nor support what is sent to them, but using plausable deniability is silly, especially since they advocate the same things that they are "supposedly censoring".

I think I'm going to get my rain slicker and hip boots on. The muckraking is going to get really messy these next few months.
