Wife tested positive for...Baby
Christmas Day | 1/09/2004 | Flightdeck

Posted on 01/09/2004 11:17:22 PM PST by Flightdeck

I know this is somewhat presumptuous that anybody would care, but I found out today that I will be a new father in about 8.75 months. Part of me is scared because I firmly believe that raising a child into a good person is probably the most important thing a person can do in their lives. The only reason I am posting this is that I bet this value is shared by a great many people in this forum, and our anonymity allows a comfortable level of discourse. (Wait, that's two reasons.) Anyway, wish us luck.

I wish you and your wife well. Since people are giving advice, I have 2 comments:

1. Forgive your wife her moods. She can't help it and she doesn't mean to be a pain in the rear.

2. It's alright to apologize to your child when you've made a mistake. We're all human, even parents.

Welcome to the real world.

Thanks, and you know what parents say: "I hope you have a kid like you". God help me.

LOL!!

My first son was wonderful! Slept the whole night from the second night home on. Didn't sleep much during the day, but that was OK. Smiley, alert, laughing, sensative and intelligent. Potty trained day and night at 21 months by the time my second son was born.

My mother called him poetic justice.

I said Mother, I never! and she said Oh yes you did!

He had a SEG from the get-go. Up all night, almost 3 when he was potty trained. He was a hider. Loves to argue. He calles it "honing his skills". He could talk the Devil out of his pitchfork. He is my red white and blue boy. His hand went over his heart every time we passed a flag from the age of 4 on. I had to make a flag quilt for his room because we couldn't find one he liked.

He is in college now for law enforcement, and has the Marines in the back of his mind. My oldest is in an art institute for illustrations. He is very good.

You never know what you are going to get. It won't be perfect, but it will be wonderful!! Hang on and enjoy the ride!

God bless you!

Becki

I've managed to keep two wonderful kids alive and educated through some really trying times. What's more, I've even managed to keep them happy and feeling well-loved. I could tell you horror stories, but the end point is always the same; it will be all right. Stay the course, love them, be patient when things seem overwhelming, stand by your wife and you will raise precious babies into fantastic human beings.

Read Dobson. That wonderful man taught me how to be a mom. A good mom. Just the fact that you are even thinking about it makes the odds of you being a successful parent almost 100%

Now enjoy this wonderful feeling and go rub your wife's feet! :-)

LOL! Thank you for sharing about your second! He sounds JUST like my son. His most common word is, "But..." He argues. He hides relentlessly. He loves to dig holes and climb trees. I had to take him to the chiropractor to have a rib put back in yesterday. The dr said, "What's your trauma." We told him about the treehouse accident. Then it was my turn for an adjustment (may as well). He says again, "So, what's your trauma?" I just grinned and pointed to my son.

The good news is that you can take it one day at a time. Every day is a new chance to do it well. So don't panic.

That's worthwhile advice even when she's not pregnant. *cough*

Me too. Due 8/15. My wife went for a hysterectomy and they suggested that hang onto her stuff for a while since she's Pregnant. I'm happy, she's freaking!

Buy a digital camera, take plenty, you'll be glad.
And many blessings to you and your wife.
