A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Suggestions on how to live a happy & rewarding life:
|
Watch a sunrise at least once a year.
Remember other people's birthdays.
Look people in the eye.
Learn to make great chili.
Plant flowers every spring.
Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated.
Plant a tree on your birthday.
Make new friends but cherish the old ones.
Let people pull in front of you when you're stopped in traffic.
Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference.
Learn to make something beautiful with your hands.
Give to charity all the clothes you haven't worn the past three years.
Think big thoughts, but relish small pleasures.
Learn to listen. Opportunity sometimes knocks very softly.
Strive for excellence, not perfection.
Pray not for things, but for wisdom and courage.
Don't waste time responding to your critics.
Be your wife's best friend. Be your husband's best friend.
Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know.
Don't forget, a person's greatest emotional need is to feel appreciated.
Don't waste time grieving over past mistakes. Learn from them and move on.
Don't major in minor things.
Seek out the good in people.
Respect tradition.
Buy a bird feeder and hang it so that you can see it from your kitchen window.
Learn to show cheerfulness, even when you don't feel like it.
Learn to show enthusiasm, even when you don't feel like it.
Every day show your family how much you love them with your words, your touch and your thoughtfulness.
Take family vacations whether you can afford them or not. The memories will be priceless.
Lie on your back and look at the stars.
Never underestimate the power of love.
Never underestimate the power of forgiveness.
Refrain from envy. It's the source of much unhappiness.
Live your life as an exclamation, not an explanation.
Instead of using the words, if only, try substituting the words, next time.
Instead of using the word problem, try substituting the work opportunity.
Get your next pet from an animal shelter.
Know when to keep silent.
Know when to speak up.
Cherish your children for what they are, not for what you'd like them to be.
Don't be called out on strikes. Go down swinging.
Give people the benefit of the doubt.
Hug your spouse.
Hug your child.
Hug your pet.
Hug yourself. Be your own best friend.
Hugs to all who visit here. May you all have a blessed day.

Positively wonderful List you present for our consumption this day, dutchess, to savor with the steaming cup of coffee and Daily Bread The Mayor soon will provide!
Makes one relax and smile, thinking,"Right! These things should be automatic," and prompt other such thoughts, just as you planned..:))
On the road again this morning, for another appointment, and I assure you I will take inventory of the changes in the winter landscape, such as they are here.
Before getting ready, there is one suggestion I have for those of you who in their work must prepare employee evaluations.
One of my Missions In Life is to change the wording of an especially offensive phrase: "Constructive Criticism"
The very *mention* of the second word creates tension in the person before you, and should be deleted from all descriptions and forms.
Instead, substitute this one: "Constructive Comments"
See?!! In that, there is no implied threat of any kind, with the possibility that the process might yield POSITIVE THINGS, and not all adverse ones..:))
You thus can build a bridge and get across all your points, making sure there are some to elevate the recipient, and leave him/her with dignity and hope.
Cheerio! Off to spread a little sunshine, as you suggest, dutchess!

Morning everybody!!!....sorry I've been so scarce on here...just haven't had enough time to sit down read/respond between two jobs and a project I'm trying to get done. SneakyMeek, I liked that pic you posted of your wife in front of (the museum?).....thanks for sharing with all of us!
Hope everyone has a good day. (P.S. I think that Kennedy and Hitlery won't be having a good day, judging from the groans I was watching on their faces last night!!! : )

What Do You Seek?
Read: John 1:35-42
Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, "What do you seek?" John 1:38
Bible In One Year: Exodus 1-3; Matthew 14:1-21
How would you answer if Jesus were to ask you, "What do you seek?" (John 1:38). Would you ask Him for health and fitness? A better job? A happier marriage? Financial security? Vindication from a false accusation? Salvation for a wayward loved one? An explanation of some difficult theological concept?
For two disciples of John the Baptist, this situation was more than an exercise in imagination. One day while they were with John, Jesus walked by and John announced, "Behold the Lamb of God!" (v.36). Instead of continuing to follow John, his two disciples started following Jesus.
When Jesus saw them, He asked, "What do you seek?" (v.38).
Apparently John had taught them well, because their answer indicated that they were not seeking something for themselves but Jesus Himself. They wanted to know where Jesus was staying. Not only did Jesus show them the place, He spent the remainder of the day with them.
I wonder how often we miss an opportunity to spend time with Jesus because we're seeking something other than His presence. I know from experience that the more time I spend with Jesus, the less desire I have for a lot of things that once seemed very important. Julie Ackerman Link
To walk in fellowship with Christ
And sense His love so deep and true
Brings to the soul its highest joy
As nothing in this world can do. D. De Haan
Jesus longs for our fellowship even more than we long for His.

Hey, thanks ! I missed hitlery's face on SOTU last night (fortunately, lol!), but I DID CATCH old fat teddy shakin' his head.
I hope they do both have a miserable day, the Class Warfare jerks. Same for Pelosi and little tommy da$$hole since they delivered the 'RATS Class Warfare Left Wing rebuttal/spew last night ...

After watching Kennedy's head-nods and eye-rolls, you are quite the man to listen to Commies Pelosi and Dashole...I couldn't bear to watch them "spew" (gag). I'm sure what they had to say was nothing but drivel! : )

Exactly right. It was worthless, just like their entire party is now. Democrats are quickly becoming an endangered species. They are becoming Dodocrats.
Have you seen the new Seal of the Democrat Party ?
Behold the Dodocrat seal ...

God Bless Our Military
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Mama_Bear; Dansangel; Dutchess, Aquamarine or deadhead and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nations leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
