PRESIDENT CLINTON VIDEO, December 16, 1998 Sadaam has nuclear arms, poison gas/bio weapons.
PBS.org ^ | February 7, 2004 | the eagle has landed

Posted on 02/07/2004 11:31:50 AM PST by TheEaglehasLanded

PRESIDENT CLINTON: Good evening. Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.

Their purpose is to protect the national interest of the United States, and indeed the interests of people throughout the Middle East and around the world.

Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons.

I want to explain why I have decided, with the unanimous recommendation of my national security team, to use force in Iraq; why we have acted now; and what we aim to accomplish.

"...and I tried to find conservatives who lived in the area. We failed."

They're here. You just have to get them to come out of the closet! :)

"On a second trip our younger son stayed with us for 4 days. He is a recovering enviral whacko living in the Portland area for over a decade."

The funny thing is Dave, almost every house in Cannon Beach is sided with: old growth cedar shingles! I work in construction here. I once had a conversation with an environmental wacko, who was going on about clear cut logging and ancient forests, etc. I pointed at his NEW house, which was in the process of being sided...with old growth cedar siding. I asked him if he was aware of wear his siding came from? His response: "humina, humina, humina..."

"It is a beautiful area."

Some of the nicest scenery in the world, imo.

Regards

If we ever get that far north again, I'll ping you.

Brookings and Gold Beach are about as far as I want to go at my old age. Of course that is where the best fall/late summer fly fishing is.

We make at least one shopping trip to Bandon during our Brookings/Gold Beach trips.

Re the old growth cedar, and the watermelon whackos living in homes or having boutique businesses in buildins with old growth cedar shingles: Just remember what they want us to do does not apply to them if they don't want it to apply.

Nice meeting you on line.

Yes that's always the case, isn't it? Take campaign finance laws, and these guys are breaking every one of them; George Sora$$ case in point.

Nice meeting you on line, as well. I've read your posts, I enjoy the info you provide. Stay in touch.

"Is it just me or is the media moving the goalposts again?"

It ain't just you...the VastLeftWingMedyuhWhore'd's been moving the goalposts time and again, whenever they need to declare Dubyuh a loser in the War Against Terror. I believe we have located ample evidence as to WMD programs, but the Left refuses to make it common knowledge.

The GOP, the RNC have long been INEPT at getting the "message" out...they don't want to be called names, or be accused of being "negative"....

If you will think back, it wasn't the GOP that killed Hillary-care...it was the TV ads run by the insurance companies who QUOTED right from Hillary's plan....

You are right that the GOP should RUN the video at news conferences, etc...but they won't...they just don't understand how to fight effectively.

They remove the goalposts, change the game from football to soccer for GW and substitute a hockey puck for the football.

Then under this new whacked out reality, they say that GW is losing it.

Remember after 9/11 when GW said that al Qaeda and the Taliban were responsible? The rats in congress and who own the left wing lunatic media screamed that he had no proof.

Then it was documented by OBL's own video about the involvement of al Qaeda and the Taliban, the left wing rats dropped that game, forgot it and came up with another game to blame GW.

They never admitted that they were wrong about al Qaeda and the Taliban being responsible for 9/11. They just moved on to their next set up to try and electronically lynch GW.

Yep...the MedyuhBias is as bad as I've ever seen it, and it ain't only about foreign policy. Just today, I heard about some economists claiming that the healthy economic progress is gonna end just after the end of '04 becuz Dubyuh's artificially primed the economy with high military spending and temporary tax cuts!!

Thank God fer FR.com and talk radio...MUD

Beg to differ. Now is the time to keep the powder dry. Let the ever-shrinking opposition party bury its chances with its continuous slurry of lies.

After there actually is a nominee it will be time to go after his (or her) sorry ***, and until then, nada.

The so-called Democrats have been trashing each other for months on end, and the only unifying thing they have is Bush Hatred.

That's something afflicting some non-Democrats as well. ;')

:') There's been speculation right along (at least around here) that the way has been made for Hillary to be "drafted" at the convention. At the very least there will be a bloody, murderous fistfight at the convention IMHO. Tim Russert from "Meet the Press" has said as much, and he "called" the Florida debacle in 2000.

quote of a similar page, reprised from another FR topic:
If The Bush Administration Lied About WMD,
So Did These People

compiled by John Hawkins
"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." -- From a letter signed by Joe Lieberman, Dianne Feinstein, Barbara A. Milulski, Tom Daschle, & John Kerry among others on October 9, 1998

"Saddam's goal ... is to achieve the lifting of U.N. sanctions while retaining and enhancing Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs. We cannot, we must not and we will not let him succeed." -- Madeline Albright, 1998

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retained some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capability. Intelligence reports also indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons, but has not yet achieved nuclear capability." -- Robert Byrd, October 2002

"What is at stake is how to answer the potential threat Iraq represents with the risk of proliferation of WMD. Baghdad's regime did use such weapons in the past. Today, a number of evidences may lead to think that, over the past four years, in the absence of international inspectors, this country has continued armament programs." -- Jacques Chirac, October 16, 2002

"The community of nations may see more and more of the very kind of threat Iraq poses now: a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction, ready to use them or provide them to terrorists. If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow." -- Bill Clinton in 1998

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members, though there is apparently no evidence of his involvement in the terrible events of September 11, 2001. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons. Should he succeed in that endeavor, he could alter the political and security landscape of the Middle East, which as we know all too well affects American security." -- Hillary Clinton, October 10, 2002

"I am absolutely convinced that there are weapons...I saw evidence back in 1998 when we would see the inspectors being barred from gaining entry into a warehouse for three hours with trucks rolling up and then moving those trucks out." -- Clinton's Secretary of Defense William Cohen in April of 2003

"Iraq is not the only nation in the world to possess weapons of mass destruction, but it is the only nation with a leader who has used them against his own people." -- Tom Daschle in 1998

"I share the administration's goals in dealing with Iraq and its weapons of mass destruction." -- Dick Gephardt in September of 2002

"Iraq does pose a serious threat to the stability of the Persian Gulf and we should organize an international coalition to eliminate his access to weapons of mass destruction. Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to completely deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." -- Al Gore, 2002

"We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." -- Bob Graham, December 2002

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." -- Ted Kennedy, September 27, 2002

"As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I am keenly aware that the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons is an issue of grave importance to all nations. Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." -- Nancy Pelosi, December 16, 1998

"Even today, Iraq is not nearly disarmed. Based on highly credible intelligence, UNSCOM [the U.N. weapons inspectors] suspects that Iraq still has biological agents like anthrax, botulinum toxin, and clostridium perfringens in sufficient quantity to fill several dozen bombs and ballistic missile warheads, as well as the means to continue manufacturing these deadly agents. Iraq probably retains several tons of the highly toxic VX substance, as well as sarin nerve gas and mustard gas. This agent is stored in artillery shells, bombs, and ballistic missile warheads. And Iraq retains significant dual-use industrial infrastructure that can be used to rapidly reconstitute large-scale chemical weapons production." -- Ex-Un Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter in 1998
