Rally for Marriage, Boston Common
Self | Feb 8, 2004 | Self

I arrived at the Rally for Marriage at 2:30 while Don Feder was speaking missing the first speaker. The crowd was impressive, best guess would be about 3000- 3500, a good draw for a twenty degree day with a wind chill of below 0.

Across Tremont Street a group of sodomites, lesbians, and other off brands, about 125 or so, were cluttering up the sidewalk waving the fag flag and signs complaining about discrimination and despoiling the constitution, yeah.

I met JMT576 and his uncle and we desided to walk around, take some pictures for posting, and generally get a feel for what was going on. The crowd very diverse black, white, oriential and very well ordered, the cops kept a tight lid on disrupters of which there were a few.

I didn't pay a lot of attention to the speakers after Feder, they would be preaching to the converted, I will say that Ray Flynn did a good job running the Rally, it was the first time I have seen him without a Bud in his hand.

The high point of the Rally was Archbishop O'Malley, you could feel the fear and loathing eminating from the State House. The Rally broke up after that, very well done.

other off brands...the fag flag

Please watch your language as what might be deemed hateful epithets will not help the cause of marriage. As Christians we must hate the sin and love the sinner. The issue with same sex marriage is not denial of an practical freedom of homosexuals to cohabit and live as man and wife. It is rather illegitimate government promotion of homosexual activity, which many in society view and have a right to view as immoral. And all this imposed by courts on specious legal arguments on constitutional "rights" which are not in accord with either the intent of the framers or the consensus of society.

The thing that agrivates me is the lack of real out rage. Despite the good turn out, on reflection, I keep getting the feeling that if we fail alot of the who people were there will say, "Oh well, we tried and we lost so we will have to live with it."

Ain't it great? I'm anxious to see who's going to be appointed to replace O'Reilly in Worcester. I think that's supposed to happen sometime this year.

By accepting the watered down bill we have, in essence, surendered. The rats in the General Court are afraid of a voter revolt and they are throwing a bone in hopes of savving their sorry butts.

That way they can say to the sodimites, we have made the best of an impossible issue, half a loaf is better than none, so please help me so that I can help you in the future.

....And everyone rolls over, the pubbies for lack of nads and everyone else because "We tried but this is the best that we can get." Now is the time to take a stand, now is the time to play hardball.

lame. They only showed supporters. The reporter basically said it was inevitable the homosexual marriages would happen because the soonest a vote could happen is 2006. They also reported that the demands for a public vote would not guarantee passage of the constitutional amendment because the public is "divided".

It was tame, and not overly biased against. That may have had more to do with the freezing weather and the dearth of opposition to the supporters of traditional matter.

The emphasis was definitly on letting the public vote. A suprisingly unified portrayal.

The ABC reporter indicated that BOTH sides acknowledge there are "more than enough" votes in the legislature to pass the constitutional amendment.

I heard the news of the rally on the 11:00PM news out here in Phoenix. They said "thousands" attended. They also had a short "bite" from Archbishop O'Malley's speech and included applause after one of his statements.I think you guys impressed someone on the wire service and I was happy our guys out here picked up on it and used it. Congratulation!!Maybe Massachusets well put the whole movement into reverse. Good job!!

Don't get depressed. ABC announced that the pro-amendment forces have the votes to get the amendment.

Also, HRC has a webpage set up on their website to send automated formletters to representatives after you enter your name and zip code. We are not the only ones sending communication to representatives.

If you like I can post the information for the FMA Federal House and Senate Committees here.

The mass courts have taken the civil union issue off the table. Just because they allow them does not mean they will be allowed. I rather have that than nothing.
