We're DOOMED!

Everyone, we may as well pack it in.

Freeping as we knew it is done for. It's all over.

We just had a troll who posted a rather unique thread. But the devil was in the details. His last post, before being dispatched, informed us of our impending demise.

And don't think you pussies can ban me this time. I have dynamic IP. I'll be back.

What is a dynamic IP and why does he think it makes him untraceable?

His/her ISP uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) ,which centrally manages and maintains and assigns a pool of IP addresses. Every time this person disconnects from the Server, and then reconnects, he is assigned a new IP. Large ISPs who use this system can have a large number of DHCP servers in their network, and any of those servers can assign IP addresses. I'm not going to explain the whole process, but the DHCP lease process is called Discover, Offer, Request, Acknowledge or DORA for short.

And yes, the IP address is traceable back to the ISP who assigned it.

Brush with fame!

I grew up in So. Cal (L.A.)....

I've got stories that deal with my personal experiences with the likes of John Elway and Charles White and all the way to the other end of the spectrum.......Paula Abdul and Eve Plumb.

Ya know, for a long long time, I was a member in Good standing of the AOL conference called RADIO ROOM. In that room, the "first lady" was referred to as PIAPS. For a long time, I didn't get it. Then I had to ask.. and the reply? Pig In A Pant Suit. I laughed so hard, I couldn't type, and I type damned near as fast as I TALK! (grin)

Sheesh I got here late. With that impending disaster, I sure hope you all are still here... Please be careful, who knows what a guy with a dynamic IP could DO to you!
