Official US sources have been talking up this spring offensive including talk of getting him soon.
(Trying to be mindful of the "loose lips sink ships" warning...) I've heard things along those lines from a "source" and I really haven't heard anything about OBL included in the spring offensive. Mainly that elements of al Q and Taliban with assistance from our friends the Paki Army are gearing up for attacks and counter attacks against our troops.
Hey, I really do hope they catch him, it will be a great day for all Real Americans and could allow G Dub to roll over ketchup boy like he was McGovern. I just have a bad feeling he's already dancing in hell with allah.

I just have a bad feeling he's already dancing in hell with allah.Don't feel bad. He would be where he belongs.

My understanding of this: He has released videos and audiotapes that have the CIA believing he is alive.
Wish he were dead.

Well good question because my brother had home dialysis for a few years and it was a huge effort. Not only does it require LOTS of supplies, sterile supplies, gallons of dialyzing solution etc., the machines are finicky and there can be trouble with the patients implanted dialysis ports too. Lab tests are required periodically to evaluate the patients condition. And dialysis patients are often fairly unable physically and have multiple disease processes such as diabetes or cardiac problems.
If a person requires on-going dialysis, the support systems to keep it up and running and troubleshoot complications, as well as a continueing supply source would be HUGE. I simply don't see this happening with somebody on the run and hiding in remote areas.

I know John Loftus. He's an earnest guy who generally means well. But as a source I would rate him somewhere between DEBKA and the National Enquirer. Take whatever he offers and wait until some more reliable sources confirm what he offers. How do you rate Mansoor Ijaz whose unimpeachable sources have Osama in Iran?
"Both al-Qaida leaders are disguised, Ijaz said. Bin Laden, has shaved his head bald and is wearing a shorter beard that is dyed to make him look more like an Iranian cleric. He also has put on a considerable amount of weight."

If he's on the run, that's exactly what we want.

Accepted as gospel because of some reports right after 9.11.
IMO, false. Some disinfo to perhaps account for Osama's being seen in some of the Gulf States. A useful cover story, to hide what, i don't know.
This is my .02.
I think we've already got him. There's been a lot of talk over the past few months from people almost guaranteeing him being captured this year. When it's announced that we have him, the Dems will accuse Bush of announcing the timing for political purposes anyway.
I think there are strategic reasons for not letting everyone know we have him yet.
So there -- What the hell do I know?

I continue to insist that he's dead until I'm proven wrong. Be careful what you ask for. The Skiffy Channel ran "Odysseus" last weekend. His home was invaded by a bunch of
John Kerrys, er, would-be suitors of Odysseus' rich "widow".
The John Kerrys were proved dead wrong.

OBL escaped dragnet.Sergeant Joe Friday would have had him. This is a law enforcement problem you know. Hanoi John said so.

Report: Bin Laden escaped dragnet
TORA BORA, Afghanistan, March 5 (UPI) -- Reports have been received in eastern Afghanistan that al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden dodged a Pakistani raid to capture him, the BBC said Friday.
A local official told the BBC the information came in a fax sent to a former Taliban member three days ago.
The official, who did not want to be named, said he met a former member of the Taliban who had received a fax that said "the Sheikh" -- bin Laden's nickname -- was alive and well and had escaped an attempt by Pakistani forces to catch him on their side of the border last week in the tribal areas of South Waziristan.
Bin Laden is believed to be hiding in the mountainous border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan, and his former Tora Bora hideout in eastern Afghanistan has come under particular scrutiny.
The official said he believes the report was genuine and had passed it on to Afghan authorities in the region.

"Binnie has to be near somewhere where there is an electrical generator."
Nah. At any Pep Boys, you can buy a power inverter to generate hundreds of watts of AC from any car battery. Use a solar cell to charge the battery between treatments. No need to lug around a heat-and-noise-making generator.

John F(onda) Kerry says the war on terror is not a military issue, it's a law enforcement issue. So clearly we (and Pakistan, and our other allies) are sending the wrong people in to dragnet OBL. Instead, Senator Kerry would send:

No surprise there. Anybody who thinks the ISI is going to let Musharraf just hand him over is smoking something. IMO, there are fanatics in the ISI who want his job and, given the opportunity, will do whatever it takes to get it.
BTW, I climb, prune, and top too, although you won't see me doing the Tarzan routine.
