I saw the interview he did on EWTN last year when he was filming and it was incredible. He is a very humble individual. And in his profession, that's a welcome quality! I pray for him.

From what I've heard of Raymond Orroyo when he was interviewed for comments about the movie itself, he said that he had the pleasure of going to Italy and sitting behind the scenes next to Mel Gibson watching the filming of the movie. I'm certain this interview will be fun to watch.

I'm not even a Catholic and I plan to watch this.

How about this tidbit that came out in the interview.

One of the e-mails during the Q&A section of the show. There was an email in regard to last night's Hardball, they had on a Bishop who called The Passion, pornographic and said that in the movie Jesus never said, Father forgive them for they know not what they do.

The response was really quite interesting. First Raymond Arroyo, commented that the same bishop has written several novel, that are rather pornographic in nature. As to the lines spoken in the movie. Jim Caviezel was somewhat taken aback, saying he does not know where the Bishop was but Father forgive them, was actually used three times during the movie. Once while being nailed to the cross, another time on the cross, he did not mention the third place it was used.

Yeah--a good guy.

And he blew Leno right into the next county with his offhanded response to Leno's question: "SOOOOO, you get the part of Jesus. And just how did you prepare for, ah, this, ah....????"

Caviezel: "Well, I went home and practiced walking across my pool twice a day."

Deadpan delivery. Leno was smacked up, and he knew it.

Also, check out the Catholic League's web site (www.catholicleague.org). There's an excellent paragraph or two, whaling on the critics. First the critics said the movie was anti-Semitic. Then, when everybody started going to actually SEE the movie, they could no longer get away with THAT lie. So they immediately wheeled out lie #2, that the violence was actually pornographic.

Man, what the pointy-heads won't do in their desperation in getting somebody - anybody - to take them seriously.

That was NO bishop ;-D The person Raymond Arroyo was referring to is Fr. Andrew Greeley, a very 'controversial' Catholic priest who has authored some risque books. He is a member of the more radical, liberal element of the Catholic Church who would like nothing better than to see the church change its stance on female ordination, abortion, contraception, and gay marriage. Since that will NEVER happen, he then becomes a good friend to the liberal media who project his views as being those of the Catholic Church. Hence, Raymond Arroyo's reaction to the question.

That's criminal. I'm beginning to understand the actions of the USCCB a bit more. Did anyone catch the bishop's name?

Catholic League president William Donohue responds as follows:

 

“Christians need to take note of this mental goose-stepping, but they should also note that none of these savants found ‘Schindler’s List’ to be pornographic. What they find pornographic is the scourging and crucifixion of Jesus Christ.  No doubt for some of them, the New Testament classifies as pornography as well.  Indeed that is exactly what a Brooklyn rabbi told me to my face.  At least now it’s out in the open.”

Some time ago, I became pissed off at the Catholic Church I was attending. So I went elsewhere. I went to the San Fernando Mission for a service. The Priest was also a Monk who raised Hell during his Sermon. Studious as he was, people actually clapped when he got down to the basics of our existence and description of normal life. He had to move on up the coast to other missions as a Monk. That's where I go to Church now. 150 year-old pews and all.
