Springfield, MO area Freepers Call to Action
Posted on 03/18/2004 12:35:21 PM PST by swmopatriot
As you all know, this Saturday (March 20) is the one-year anniversary of the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The pro-appeasement forces have picked this day to hold anti-war, anti-Bush protests nationwide...including in Missouri. Since these shouldn't go unanswered, we have decided to organize a "Support our Troops and Freedom" demonstration to counter the leftists. We will demonstrate at the corner of Battlefield and Glenstone starting at 12:00 PM and going to whenever we decide to leave. If you live in the Springfield area we encourage you to come out and join us...the more the better.

DC Chapter bump to the Springfield, MO FReepers. I agree with you that it is very important that the anti-war protesters are countered whenever they come to town. Hope the weather is fair and that your demonstration is successful. Bring flags -- the anti-war leftists never seem to have any unless they are using them for rugs or desecrating them.
FReep On!

Totally off-topic... But I wonder if you might know of a particular restaurant in Springfield. Used to go with a girl from Republic ~6 years back, and we used to go to a downtown restaurant that was very upscale & classy. The chefs cooked in an open grill area in the front of the restaurant; and there was a cigar bar upstairs. Don't know if it's still there. I'd probably recognize the name if I heard it. Might have had a middle-eastern name?
Was in Sprinfield this past week, and didn't know where to begin to look for it.

Thanks for your support!
We are definitely planning to bring several flags, which the liberal protesters here never have, and the weather is supposed to be excellent.

I don't go to the downtown restaurants much and I don't know of about the one you are talking about. If it is still open it won't have the cigar bar anymore thanks to our City Council which decided to ban smoking in public restaurants. Sorry I wasn't able to be of more help, hopefully some other Springfieldan will visit this thread and be able to answer your question.

Yes, I agree, bring your U.S. flags! They hate to see Old Glory waving by us Patriots! LoL!
Take care..stay safe..and stay strong!!

The Gallery Bistro, on Walnut, is an upscale place. But I think you're remembering Bijan's, another great restaurant with the upstairs cigar bar.
You might also like Gilardi's, an Italian place on East Walnut, about two blocks east of downtown.

If it is still open it won't have the cigar bar anymore thanks to our City Council which decided to ban smoking in public restaurants.City Council's flip and flop on this issue will likely end up before voters in November, as a ban-all-smoking-in-restaurants issue. Restaurants that hit a certain dollar amount in liquor sold are able to gain exemptions to the current, confusing smoking ban.

Bump for Springfield....
Maybe now this can be a start of Conservative organizing to stand up and let OUR voices be heard...
Let "them" know that half of the country (more, IMHO) does NOT agree with their anti American views..
