Pop superstar Madonna's Re-Invention tour has been slammed by American critics - for overloading the show with "naive" political statements. The "American Life" singer, 45, kicked off the US leg of her tour in California on Monday but failed to impress critics with her attempts to "wipe the slate clean" by ditching her trademark raunchy routines. The Los Angeles Times sniped, "This promised to be Madonna's tour de force, a reappraisal that put her work in new and revealing contexts. But time and again she fell short of the challenge." Many critics were unimpressed by the images of the Iraq war, injured civilian children and US soldiers, saying Madonna should look back to her past concert tours for inspiration. Others suggested her cover of John Lennon classic "Imagine," throughout which a hard-hitting video featuring Israeli and Palestinian children walking hand in hand was played, was ill-conceived. The Californian newspaper added, "Madonna traded most of the old sexual teasing for social commentary, and she's no John Lennon, friends." The New York Times concurred, "Madonna is far too slippery - and far too savvy - for this sort of faux-naive sentimentalism." Tabloid The New York Post added, "Madonna's blonde ambition is fading to bland."

Suit yourself as to your viewpoint. Stupid Streisand and Has Been Madonna are down the tubes. You can't save them nor can they save themselves. Their star has faded and all they can come up with are pathetic attempts at a comeback.

ha ha! That`s what I was saying, it seems MTV has this fixation on girls 5 foot tall with wide set brown eyes, even the guys. A friend of mine was telling me the new MTV clone Jessica Simpson has the same face as Ricky Martin ha ha! She DOES! I mean what the hell is with that? Does MTV have some clone lab going on there we dont know about? I mean my God, if the music ain`t bad enough sounding the same, now they got the performers looking the same.
LOL! It's like MTV and their ilk promote oddities/uglies as the standard for beauty. Now that you mention JS looking like RM, it is true. I have always thought Brittany was a tall dwarf. She has all the characteristics of dwarfism, face/eyes, long neck, long torso, short legs and arms. That is why she always wears sleeves past her wrist and pant with platform shoes. also there is never a full body shot showing feet and ankles. what really bothered me about the Madonna was she and the media acting like she was another Marilyn Monroe, ha in her dreams. I look more like Marilyn than Madonna could ever hope too and I don't even look like Marilyn.

Ooh, great post. This will make for great coffee talk tomorrow with the girls! I always thought Brittany was strange looking but the dwarfism connection definitely puts in more into perspective! And Jessica does resemble Ricky Martin. Although, my daughter saw her upclose in person and said she was FLAWLESS.
I missed that, but IMO, liberals are pacifists because liberals are cowards. They offer all kinds of lofty-sounding reasons for their pacifism but it all comes down to the fact that they are cowards. They are cowards because they are supremely selfish. They also want the government to spend the taxpayers money on handouts instead of defense, as well.
I tend not to think of her at all
