Exactly. The left's big fear about this is that once everyone is paying at least a little of this tax, it becomes MUCH harder to raise it. It's too easy for people to lose part of their check and not think about it. They lost money they didn't even have, so it's painless to sheeple that don't stop and think about it. Pop for the tax while you're buying a new couch, and it becomes a WHOLE lot harder to support the next raise in taxes. I support the NRST.

No. The price of a product will actually go down, and will still continue to be 'tagged' on a product as it is now. They will however notice when the 'at register' price goes up when the tax is increased.
Do you think people don't notice when their local, county, or state sales tax increases?

You need to look closer at the FairTax plan. They give every person in America a monthly allowance equal to the sales tax at the poverty level. Therefore, anyone under the poverty level actually makes money with this plan and if the tax is raised, they make more money.
The FairTax is the largest government entitlement program in the history of this country.
It couldn't be done in the 1940s and it can't be done today, do the math.
I respect and admire Dr. Williams a great deal, however, I would like to know what his solution is? I agree that there needs to be spending reforms, but we need an alternative to our current tax structure that distributes the tax burden across the entire population.
Perhaps the current proposal for the NRST is imperfect, but it is a beginning to fix a tax system that is so irreparably broken NOTHING can be done to salvage it other than to completely scrap it and start over.
That is about what you are apying NOW. Most of it is just buried in other costs. Remove that, and even compensating for profit taking, things would be a bit cheaper. People would have the added advantage of not having to woory about the IRS boogeyman.

I don't worry about the IRS now. But 50 different IRS's might worry me a bit.

Don't forget accountants. I mentioned the NRST to mine and he said in monotone voice that he wouldn't have a job. I didn't say anything else, I need him on my side.
