Mary Jo Kopechne

Subject: Mary Jo Kopechne

Hello My name is Mary Jo Kopechne.

I would have been 65 years of age this year.

Read about me and my killer below.

When Sen. Ted Kennedy was merely just another Democrat bloating on Capitol Hill on behalf of liberal causes, it was perhaps excusable to ignore his deplorable past.

But now that he's become Sen. John Kerry's leading campaign attack dog, positioning himself as Washington's leading arbiter of truth and integrity, the days for such indulgence are now over.

It's time for the GOP to stand up and remind America why Sen. Kerry's chief spokesman had to abandon his own presidential bid in 1980 - time to say the words Mary Jo Kopechne out loud.

As is often the case, Republicans have deluded themselves into thinking that most Americans already know the story of how this "Conscience of the Democratic Party" left Miss Kopechne behind to die in the waters underneath the Edgartown Bridge in July 1969, after a night of drinking and partying with the young blonde campaign worker. But most Americans under 40 have never heard that story, or details of how Kennedy swam to safety, then tried to get his cousin Joe Garghan to say he was behind the wheel.

Those young voters don't know how Miss Kopechne, trapped inside Kennedy's Oldsmobile, gasped for air until she finally died, while the Democrats' leading Iraq war critic rushed back to his compound to formulate the best alibi he could think of.

Neither does Generation X know how Kennedy was thrown out of Harvard on his ear 15 years earlier -- for paying a fellow student to take his Spanish final. Or why the US Army denied him a commission because he cheated on tests.

As they listen to the Democrats' "Liberal Lion" accuse President Bush of "telling lie after lie after lie" to get America to go to war in Iraq, young voters don't know about that notorious 1991 Easter weekend in Palm Beach, when Uncle Teddy rounded up his nephews for a night on the town, an evening that ended with one of them credibly accused of rape.

It's time for Republicans to state unabashedly that they will no longer "go along with the gag" when it comes to Uncle Ted's rants about deception and moral turpitude inside the Bush White House. And if the Republicans don't, let's do it ourselves by passing this forgotten disgrace around the Internet to wake up memories of what a fraud and fake Teddy really is.

The Democratic Party, not to mention Sen. John Kerry, should be ashamed to have the national disgrace from Massachusetts as their spokesman. And the GOP needs to say so out loud. I remember all of this and I'm sure most of you do, too.

I was only a few years old at the time so I don't remember the accident. Why didn't she go out the driver's side door when he opened it and got out? Did he purposefully trap her in the car?

What was it that Duke Cunningham said in Congress (about Ted Kennedy) that so upset the young Kennedy?

She suffocated, right? Her nose was in an air pocket. I was told one thing, and you were told another or found out something different. It makes no difference, she suffocated and she could have been rescued.

Whether she lived 40 minutes or five hours, it was a horrible and unnecessary death and I hate those phony "noblesse oblige" bastard Kennedys for it.

Didn't her parents take money from the Kennedy's to keep their mouths shut? I'd read somewhere that he paid them off so they would not make it into a major issue.

"he obviously has been living with guilt ever since, which I have no sympathy for, and that guilt is exemplified in his own behavior with respect to alcohol."

Playing the victim card on behalf of the fat swimmer is wrong on so many levels. He didn't become an alcoholic because of his guilty conscience about causing Mary Jo's death. Most likely he's a sociopath and lacking a conscience. Alcoholism is not uncommon in sociopaths. If he were not already a drunken loser prior to the night he ran his car off the bridge, he wouldn't have been driving drunk and Mary Jo Kopechne would be alive today.

He did kill Miss Kopechne. Had she died of fatal injuries incurred during the accident, I might agree with negligent homicide. But, that's not what happened. This bloated gutless bag of slime deliberately and with intent left the scene knowing that Mary Jo Kopechne might well be alive in that car. His deliberate intention to evade the law were the direct cause of Miss Kopechne's death, not the accident itself.

I'm no lawyer, but I believe the facts merited a murder charge.

Several points, Ms. Kopechne:

1. You put yourself in a very dangerous situation, consorting with the Kennedys.

2. Your parents squelched any investigation of your death, probably for 30 pieces of silver.

3. It's sad, but we are not responsible. The responsibility is yours, Teddy's, your parents, and the corrupt DemocRAT government in Massachusetts.

Some people think that she was asleep in the back seat and Kennedy didn't even know she was there, meaning there was another girl in the front seat with him who escaped with him.

Well, we'll never know will we, because his people came out in full force to protect him and the judge handling the case (big Kenndey suck up) wouldn't even let the grand jury question certain aspects of the case from what I've read and been told many years ago.

I was not told anything.

The description is that of the SCUBA diver, Farrar, who found her.

Yes, she did suffocate, but probably was in shock before death.

Yes, she most definitely could have been rescued.

The statute of limitations, both Commonwealth of Massachusetts and federal (the homicide occured within the federal jurisdiction of the "navigable rivers and waterways of the continental United States"), that sets the time during which charges can be brought, have expired in the Commonwealth's case, but I am not sure about federal.

Unfortunately, without actual charges having been filed, it is a legal stretch to publicly charge Ted Kennedy as a murderer, as such things are viewed by politicians.

Ted Kennedy is re-elected in Massachusetts, because enough of the voting system in the Commonwealth, is run by the AFL-CIO which also "owns" Ted Kennedy.

O. J. Simpson was charged with murder, so another person can publicly decry him as a "murderer."

Ted Kennedy was not charged, so a person decrying Ted Kennedy, in public, as a "murderer," could be sued by him with some success ... maybe ... in Massachusetts ... if only some people in Massachusetts would do that ... because Ted Kennedy would have to prove in court that he did not murder Mary Jo.

His defense would have to be the truth; he would have to establish the truth.

Hmm ...

1. You put yourself in a very dangerous situation, consorting with the Kennedys.

I heard that she could have fallen asleep in the back of his car not knowing that Kennedy and a girl he picked up at the party would decide to take a ride. We'll never really know one way or another.

2. I also heard that the parents were paid off. Typical of the Kennedys back then -- pay the parents off and they will praise the Kennedy family no end. This happened in the late 60's, just several years after JFK's assasination when Irish Catholics still thought Kennedy's were Kings.)

3. The responsiblity lies with the judge, the jury that wasn't allowed to ask questions of Teddy boy, and the suck-up press.

I agree. Look at all of Klinton's female victims-- most all Democrats. Not that I don't like seeing their conversions in some instances because they do point out the errors in Socialism, Communism, and the Democrat Party.

From the web -

Books about the incident include Jack Olsen's The Bridge at Chappaquiddick (1969) and Leo Damore's Senatorial Privilege (1988)... Kopechne's death was overshadowed in national news by the Apollo 11 moon mission, which had launched on 17 July and which culminated in Neil Armstrong's moon walk on 20 July... Edward Kennedy finally ran for president in 1980, but lost the Democratic nomination to incumbent Jimmy Carter, who then lost in the general election to Ronald Reagan... 20 years after the incident at Chappaquiddick, Kennedy's nephew John F. Kennedy, Jr. was killed in a private plane crash in the ocean off Martha's Vineyard.

Ted Kennedy will let anyone accuse him of anything they want as long as they don't make a court case out of it, because the last thing he wants is someone to question him in court about Mary Jo's death.

The car left the bridge, very much in line with the line of travel that the car approached the bridge along the road.

The weight of the front right corner of the car, was the first to be un-supported.

The front right of the car began to drop, imparting a bank to the right, a spin around the longitudinal axis of the car (front to rear centerline axis).

As the rest of the car left the bridge, it kept banking hard to the right and landed roughly inverted.

Because the front end of the car also landed first in the water first, that acted as a drag.

Yet, the momentum of the car, continued to bring the rear end of the car around to a point where finally, the car was both, still inverted, and its fore-aft situation (the front of the car) aimed back in the direction in which the car had approached the bridge.

During that action of the car, Ted Kennedy was probably thrown out of the car, in a direction away from the bridge.

To give you an idea of the forces acting upon him, take a thin book, maybe 8 x 6 inches and hold it horizontally in front of you, and imagine it to be roughly the plane of the car, just prior to the car's leaving the bridge.

Imagine a driver's seat. Put a round-like object, where you would imagine Kennedy to have been, immediately prior to the car's leaving the bridge.

Now, in one motion, rapidly drop the front right corner of the car and bank the car to the right. Play with that a few times, and you will see that the forces on Kennedy, were effectively ejecting him from the car.

Then, repeat the exercise, but this time, put your object on the book where you imagine Mary Jo to have been, in the front right passenger's seat, immediately prior to the car's leaving the bridge.

The forces of the car, its action, the water upon impact, were all trapping her in the car.

While the forces of the car, its action, were catapulting Kennedy from the vehicle.

Mary Jo was probably stunned, and when she recovered, she found herself at the top of the water in the air reservoir.

If she had not been partying, had not been ill, she might have found her way out of the car; but it was late, she was tired from a long day and the party, and she was not feeling well, so she clung to life as it still presented to her.

And, Fat Teddy and Mary Jo's son would now be about 10 years out of Harvard Law School and be well on his way to talking his seat in Congress. Sure, Teddy would have had to have a bunch of his marriages annuled, but the son would have been (sort of) legitimate and Mary Jo would still be with us.

He is in the Senate because residents of Massatwosh!ts don't care that he is responsible for her death, that he has spewed so many lies, that he is a cheat and ... oh what's the use. The people of Mass. are getting what they want and what is most like their moral level. They don't care if he's a demon , as long as he delivers what the liberals of Mass. want.
