"Iran and Saudi are the two biggest rats nests out there.Hopefully both will overthrown soon by their own people."
I couldn't help but think of your post about the anti American people inside and outside this country.
I am reading Sammon's book Misunderestimated (highly recommended read).
Chirac is nicknamed in EU as Chirac Iraq!
In 1972, Saddam and France forged a deal and when it was highly criticized by the world community, Saddam released a statement that said an attack on France would be considered an attack on Iraq. Hah!
France was considered the world leader in the 1700's, the 1800 belonged to the British and undeniably the 1900 and now it looks like the new century 2000 belongs to the United States, Sammon mentions. The EU and others are jealous. Let them eat cake!
I believe that the minute we drove the Nazis out of France, that De Gaulle started to turn the French against Americans and the UK.
When this mess is over, the world and America will be surprised to see how deeply the French have been involved in the Islamos against America going back even past Jimmy Carter turning Iran over to the Mullahs.
Correct, not much hope out there for the Saudis.
For some reason, we never seem to be inclined to punish Iran for nearly 25 years of terrorist attacks against the United States.
Iran is between Iraq and Ashcanistan. What a coincidence. Get ready for round 3 after the break.
***
Round 3 will likely be handled by the Iranians themselves. They are thoroughly ripe for revolution -- 2/3rds of the country is under age 25 and hates the Islamic theocracy that took over before they were even born. Every day that goes by that the U.S. is still standing fast to their east and west in Iraq and Afghanistan, they are that much more encouraged to take action.
I think the Bush administration is hoping they'll take matters in their own hands pretty soon. And when you consider the above and that there have been college kids marching in the streets of Tehran waving American flags, I think their hope is pretty well-founded.
That is a great one.
Please send me the html to post it.
Thanks.
Thanks Grampa!
PING!

The Connection : How al Qaeda's Collaboration with Saddam Hussein Has Endangered America
by Stephen F. Hayes

From Publishers Weekly
Weekly Standard reporter Hayes marshals a wealth of evidence that, in contrast with the tenuous connections that have so far made news, point to ties between Saddam Hussein's regime and al-Qaeda. Most intriguingly, Hayes finds links between Iraq and the 1993 World Trade Center bombers, one of whom apparently received shelter and financial support from Iraq after the attack. Hayes also gets confirmation by Czech officials of the alleged Prague meeting between September 11 hijacker Mohammed Atta and an Iraqi intelligence agent. Elsewhere, Hayes points to Iraqi intelligence documents that mention a "good relationship" with bin Laden. Other sources note an alleged agreement for Iraq to assist al-Qaeda in making chemical and biological weapons. Relying both on "open sources" like news articles, transcripts from the 1998 embassy bombing trials, as well as anonymous intelligence reports and informants, Hayes allows that some of these stories may prove unreliable. But he contends that the number, consistency and varied provenance of reports of high-level contacts between al-Qaeda and Iraq throughout the past decade allows one to "connect the dots" into a clear pattern of collaboration. Despite the frustrating absence of source notes and no knowledge of what cooperative efforts ever came of these contacts, most readers will conclude from this volume that the Saddamal-Queda thread has some play left in it.
IMO it will happen.
However in the case of (our good friends) the Saudis...that will be...interesting.
For a take on them
The Religious Policeman
A Saudi man's diary of life in the "Magic Kingdom", where the Religious Police ensure that everything remains as it was in the Middle Ages.

He'll post a bunch of stuff and then has to lay low for a while as the Saudi police would dearly love to have him as their guest.
And I suppose Palistinians were in on it too.
