Report: Belgian Police Arrest Al Qaeda Suspects

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Belgian police arrested two suspected Sudanese members of Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda network at Brussels' main airport late Friday, Belgium's VTM commercial television reported Saturday. A Belgian federal police spokesman said two arrests had been made, but was unable to give further details.

"I can confirm that there have been two arrests in Zaventem (airport). I don't know about their nationality or any supposed terrorist ties," spokesman Jan van Ransbeeck said, adding that he believed the arrests were made early Saturday.

VTM said the two had flown in from Athens, Greece, and were traveling on forged passports.

The television network, quoting no sources, said the police found photographs of militants involved in suicide operations in the suspects' luggage and a mobile phone number referring to bin Laden.

Earlier Saturday the Netherlands said it was increasing security at key locations after receiving information that radical Islamists might be planning terror attacks.

Belgium seized 15 suspected Islamist militants last month as part of pan-European raids following the Madrid train bombings which killed 191 people in March.

Arrested is good.
Killed is better. But I'll take arrested.

Wasn't Belgum one of the nations against us taking Iraq?

I am glad to hear it, now if we could just kill Osama bin Laden, it would make my day! I would be twice as happy if Al Zaqawri was also taken out!

Brussels, Belgium is the location of most meeting for the EU. It is home to "the beast" computer that is many city blocks long/wide. It has memory enough to hold all of the world's citizen info, and when we are online, it is one of the exhanges used for international traffic.

Belgium is supposed to be neutral, HA, HA , HA! It is a strategic place in world, especially for last days...it is owned by Austrian royalty, and that will play a big part in Antichrist fulfillment....IMHO

and a mobile phone number referring to bin Laden.

What the he!! does that mean?

Can we call the number and follow it up with a JDAM?

Or does it mean that if found, we can encounter the best of the $3.95/min phone conversation available?

The interesting thing is where they came from Athens Greece......and the mention of a phone number. The Afghans just caught a guy the other day with a SAT phone and forced him into calling Mullah Omar in their presence.

I have little doubt that they were in Athens preparing for some sort of attack on the Olympics.

There are probably no Alqaida in Alaska. Right. Thing is, there are so many new strangers in Alaska, thousands every day, people that breeze in for the summer and maybe never come back, that nobody knows who is here. Could be anybody. Many are gambling they can get a pipeline job. Many will lose--no gas pipeline. But the old AlCan Highway is a superhighway now, thanks for the upgrade, and any Winnebago or cranked up biker or LA drug gang or Alqaida can just drive up the road no problem. They hit Fairbanks first and hopefully continue on down the road to Anchorage fairly soon. It's no challenge, no adventure anymore to come to Alaska.

Let me correct "owned by Austrian royalty", they have a claim to certain amount of property, especially Brussels.
The Hapsburgs were disposed by Nazi's in Austria, so some things they are trying to get back. This part is still in question.

Big time!

Not only that, but before the conservative, former premier of Portugal was picked to fill the position, Guy Verhofstadt was the preferred choice of the Franco-German axis to replace the departing head of the European Union, Romani Prodi.

I don't care if they're Waloon or Flemish.

In my mind, they both suck ass.

Big time!

What occurred to me is that if they found a Sat-phone with a link to OBL, why not keep this out of the news for a few days and see if they could use it to track bin Laden and Omar. It seems at times that these officials are so eager to brag about their successes, they fail to think through the opportunities that are prevented if the public is left "in the dark" temporarilly.
