No Big Deal if G.W. Bush Loses the Election to Kerry
self ^ | 7/23/04 | self

Posted on 07/23/2004 2:23:41 PM PDT by beyond the sea

Sorry about the title folks, I thought that would get some attention.

I was on a thread this morning: RICH: 'MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE' MORE PARTISAN THAN 'FAHRENHEIT 911'. It explained that this movie being brought out by the lefty/socialist/Democrat Hollywood may have even a greater negative influence on the election than Moore's pile of lies.

It is obvious to all of us that this effort to beat our President George Bush and ruin the direction of conservatism by the lefty institutions in this country has never been so diligent and so focused. The mainstream news media has become so blatantly left leaning that nearly every day I really have the impulse to strangle one (or more) of them.

Last night for example Chrissie 'Softball' Matthews had the arrogance and hutzpah to shove that famous and sleazy bricklayer, Jamie Gorelick, in our faces immediately after the 9/11 Report came out. Each day now we can see the relentless effort of the mainstream liars to ignore Sandy Berger's disgusting and unforgivable thefts!

All of us are alarmed at the power of the influential media on most voters, I am very worried. I am worried because most Americans are too busy, too disinterested, or just too damn ignorant to get to know the truth of real news events. So there is a genuine fear that the media and the other lefty influential institutions will be successful in winning this election for the lowly opportunist, John Kerry.

But, here may be how we can win this election with honesty and hard work. We will have to go around the media. It will take all our efforts, each day until November. Each of us has to do this. See what you think.

This is what I wrote on that thread this morning

The brainwashing by the media/entertainment business is never-ending. I don't believe the American people are smart or interested enough to see through it. Bush and the country are in deep trouble. But I think I have a way to win this election, but I must go work now. I'll start a thread later on this. Let me just say this now.

I ran into a landscaper Monday who buys my plant products. We started talking about the election. I started the conversation. He's a smart enough guy, but he's got that "Bush is in the pocket of big business, Republicans are evil" bull in his head. But I persisted. I asked him what he was interested in. He mentioned "a fear of bombings" in our country. I brought up OKC! Then I asked him to look up Jayna Davis on his computer. He was a somewhat curious guy so he said he would. He drove away, and yesterday he called me back and was amazed at what he learned (about OKC). To make a long story short, this guy was a sure Dem. voter in November, he had said so, now he's amazed at what he's learning and had never known. He's asking for more to see. I turned him onto Kerry's activities with VVAW. He's now seriously thinking of voting for Bush. He hates commies. Now he's beginning to realize the commie is Kerry.

ALL of us must find those 'on the fence voters' who we know, find their interests, then give them something to look up and learn about THAT interest.

It works, and if we want to have a chance to beat this sick media/entertainment onslaught, we must individually find these people and make an effort to influence them before November.

It works, but we all have to do it..... or we lose.

When a politican is telling you that he wants the UN to control our military, or that she may need to take your money away for the better good we should wake up

I agree but....... "wake up" and DO WHAT? What can be done?

At some point in time, we'll find the truth

When? When Arlen Sphincter tells us who killed JFK? ;-)

I can't believe no one has yet suggested "turn him on to FreeRepublic" so ... turn him on to Free Republic! As Rush says on many occasions, the media is what it is and Hollywood is what it is - we can change neither. But if you shine the light of truth on what is being said, you can make a difference as you have now experienced first-hand.

I still have hope that the people of America will pull out of this hynotic state and reform the Government. I hope that when this happens--not too many lives will be lost. I see hope in the south where people don't roll over for Political Correctness or liberal Speak. I find home in the leathery cowboys of the west who are not convinced of things put into 30 second TV spots. I find hope with the Young People who see through the propaganda fed to them each day by the media and thier Teachers. No, there is cause to find hope even in these desperate times. All we really need is a leader--another Reagan, and the forces of Freedom will once again point the way to greatness.

The remaining independents might be swayed by the media

You know what's odd... you know how Leno and Letterman, etc., make jokes in their monologues of a political nature.... mostly against Bush? Anyhow, I heard this morning that NONE of the late night talk shows have even bothered to tell a joke about Sandy Berger and his escapades. Bergers stuffed pants and socks is PERFECT material for a comedy bit. I don't know if it is true, but if it is that really means that things are bad. "Don't touch the Berger thing, it will make the Dems look bad."

Concerning the movie the MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE: Those on the Left, e.g., Frank Rich, the maker of the film, Liz Smith, are all trying to spin the movie as anti-President Bush. Actually, and most likely not intended, Streep is spot on as Hillary Clinton in her performance as the female senator. In fact, Streep now says (see Smith's gossip column) she based her role on Karen Hughes and Peggy Noonan. Too late, Streep. The damage has been done. See the movie and see who Streep resembles. It's Hillary to a tee. Also, the young and dynamic vice presidential candidate looks a lot more like John Edwards than Dick Cheney.

Thanks. I have also found that the "Swift Boat Vets" story is very effective at changing minds. It is astonishing to find out the percentage of citizens who know NOTHING of the way his fellow soldiers feel about him - "not fit to command". When I have shown this to some folks their ears perked up.

You're right about Streep's act. But check out post # 33. The not-so-subliminal message of the movie is "corporation and capitalism as villain".

I hear you. I just was going to try to tolerate Matthews to see what he was going to say about the 9/11 report. As soon as I saw the ugy countenance of Jamie 'The Wall' Gorelick, I turned it OFF!

I did read it and I meant no offence. Barring W getting caught with kiddie porn on his computer, he will win in November.

The people I work with represent a great cross section of America. In the five years I have been there, I have watched their attitudes change. To be sure, I had a lot to do with it*grins*, but the fact remains that people can and do see through the BS. And before you say, "what about Clinton's reelection?", Dole put on a campaign that was almost embarrasing. In short, keep up the education efforts, as will I, but have a little faith in the people.

A couple of months ago, here on FR, there was a week of, "Bush is no conservative, I voted for smaller govt!" and "He didnt close the borders!" and a whole host of threads and posts where we went back and forth about who was going to sit home, and who was going to hold their nose and vote for Bush. THOSE are the people to worry about. But in their defence, I havent seen much of that since Kerry became the "presumptive nominee.

We're all, most of us, grownups and can deal with most things including if our candidate is not successful and all the tragedy that may befall the country and the world as a result. All the same, we hope the voters are smart and choose to keep this excellent Administration.
