The Democrat National Committee has prepared a full-scale assault against the Vietnam Veterans for Truth to draw their character and veracity into question, according to one anonymous source inside the DNC. The campaign of character assassination is scheduled to coincide with the release of the book Unfit for Command which reveals inconvenient facts for the Kerry campaign.

“We have prepared what we call ‘Brown Books’ that contain damaging military records, personal credit histories, medical histories, psychiatric histories, divorce records, you name it,” our source told us. The “Brown Books” are so-called because of their distinctive plain brown covers, which contain no words. Some books have already been delivered to Kerry-friendly reporters. Others are on their way, our source told us. When asked if we could have a copy, our source declined, saying there is a limited number of “Brown Books” and they have been carefully inventoried to control in whose hands the books ended up.

Ultimately the “Brown Books” will end up in the hands of pro-Kerry news agencies and reporters. According to our source, who demanded to remain anonymous for fear of retribution, The New York Times is already on the hook to run a negative series on the Vets, as is the Boston Globe, which is owned by the Times. (Editor’s Note: The Globe has already been caught attempting to attack the veracity of George Elliott, Kerry’s commanding officer in Vietnam.)

In addition, the DNC has deployed a six member team from their press shop whose sole responsibility will be to spin and counter-spin stories about the members of Vietnam Veterans for Truth with pro-Kerry media entities, like the Times.

When asked if this was just another example of John Kerry slandering Vietnam Vets – like he did in 1971 as a member of the Vietnam Veterans Against the War – our source snapped, “No! This is warfare. The only way we’re going to get out of this is to force everyone to question their motives and credibility.”

“If they want to spread rumors and stories about John Kerry, we’ll spread rumors and stories about them. And some of the things they did in Vietnam were a lot worse than what they say John Kerry did,” our source concluded ominously.

I wouldn't be surprised if the DNC did this but I'd prefer to have some independant confirmation.

BTW, how does this differ from the "opposition research" that is now the staple of most political campaigns?

As for going after the Swift Boat Veterans, the Rats must be bluffing. They have to be. They can't be THAT stupid.....can they?

The very fact that any vet would take the unsupported word of Kerry and his bought band of brothers (purchased w/Bronze Stars and reassignments out of combat areas and travel on private jets/5star accommodations)over the entire chain of command and another 225 Swift Boat vets who were there observing Kerry, says to me that these vets, whose service may have been honorable and heroic, have no understanding of what is required to lead America.

Don't go wobbly. Too often and for far too long Republicans and conservatives and even right of center moderates have avoided fighting back for fear of appearances. The stakes are too high for such considerations at this time.

Anyone who uses their service as the centerpiece of their presidential campaign and yet will not release unsanitized records and is opposed by the vast majority of vets,including their own commanders and those in their unit, is to be viewed w/suspicion. If that person's response to opposition is intimidation and threats and smears, then they are showing themselves as weak. A weak person in a position of power is likely to be a disaster for us all, for America and for the world.

If MoveOn, The Media Fund and all the other Donk 527s are not hurting Kerry, why would Swift Vets hurt W?

As to what you can do: speak out everywhere and to heck w/being polite. Boycott every advertiser you can of every media outlet in the tank for Kerry and let the outlets know you are doing this. Unsubscribe from all subscription media and make sure your actions are known to their major advertisers via letter and email and your reasons. Since we need at least one window on the world, I have chosen to keep viewing FNC, but I let them know at every turn when they are being unfair/unbalanced/biased/and in the tank for Kerry. I also limit my evening viewing to those segments I can stomach. Since FNC is part of my sat TV package, I cannot unsubscribe from it. Since I am not a Neilsen family, my viwing has no impact on their ratings. However, on the cahnce that viewing habits can be judged from some control room at the sat TV HQ, I make sure to only watch segments and not all of the few shows I watch. Daytime, I keep the sound down and leave it on for the market bug. I can also follow the cc and turn the sound up if necessary.

Volunteer for the BC04 campaign. Write letters to your newspaper. Call local talk shows if possible. Disseminate the Swifties views to all your email list. Respond on other forums to Donk trolls by sending them the truth, the links to that truth and encouraging others who do the same. Donate, even if it is $5. $5 is most of a book of stamps. Take a lunch one day a week instead of going out and there is your $5 to donate.
