Personally, I have to say that it is a matter best left to parents.
It is not up to the schools to dictate whom students choose to associate with off campus outside of school hours.

I hope the school doesn't feel that it's their right to dictate who associates with whom out of school.
If it is, they are way out of bounds.

So much for parents telling their kids to choose their friends well.

"Based on a plain reading of the proposed regulation, a student could be expelled for simply claiming to be a member of La Raza ('The Race'), a Latino organization, or for playing rap music near white students," said the law group's statement.
Yeah, im sure it would work just like that. More likely white students would be expelled for sitting with other white students at lunch. And dont even think about being a Republican. We need to throw California out of the Union.

This is great news. The more this kind of thing happens, the more parents will pull their kids out of the public system. I hope these school policies become even more unreasonable and coercive.

"Juveniles do not have a "right" to unfettered free speech in the schools."
This isn't about free speech. It's about being able to associate with who they want to associate with. I suppose you are in favor of forcing kids to be friends with kids they don't like? The stupidity of this proposal is stunning.

How in the hell are kids going to learn how to handle the real world? This is basic stuff they
supposed to experience and learn about at their ages.
