It's not as odd as you might think. Believe it or not the CA SC is somewhat moderate. (I do say somewhat.) It's the 9th Circuit Federal court that is notoriously liberal.

Oops, I think you're right. It would have to be appealed to the US Supreme Court since it's a State Supreme Court decision, right?

Oh No! What, will Sen. Clinton and Ms. Reno do?
To: SirAllen
The SCOCA is actually fairly conservative... most of the judges were appointed by Republican Governors (Wilson, Duekmajian, Reagan).
You may be confusing them with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which is a Federal Court.

Unbelievable a court that actually follows the constitution? Am I living in America? Judges are supposed to make up their opinions based on how they feel and if others will like them, not on the constitution. Ok thats it we are going to file a lawsuit asking to have these judges removed from the bench.

Possibly. If I recall correctly, they are arguing that the state law is unconstitutional, per the California and U.S. Constitutions.

The 9th Circui has no jurisdiction here. This has to do with a city tweaking the noses of the State legislature.
