I don't mean to be cruel, but we MUST face the truth rather than sanitize it. Yes, people died horrible deaths. Anyone who was caught on the lower floors when the buildings collapsed may have died that way. However, most of the victims were crushed and quite literally pulverized.
The fact is the vast majority of those who died were the people on the floors where the planes impacted, and above. Those people were trapped in buildings that stood for about an hour after each impact. There was a raging inferno on the floors directly affected by the impacts. There was intense heat and choking smoke. Some people were injured and/or burned during the impacts, but survived only to be trapped on the upper floors. All of those trapped people suffered horribly, whether injured or not.
As we know, many people either fell or chose to jump to their deaths rather than face the fire. In all likelihood, there were signs on those upper floors that the buildings were unstable, and that may have been why some chose to jump.
Everyone trapped on the upper floors who survived the impact, and who did not jump, was caught in what amounted to a massive concrete mixer when the top floors gave way. They were literally torn to pieces in that maelstrom, which was in some respects similar to a violent tornado. It was composed of wind, extreme heat, pressure, violently swirling bits of concrete, steel, sheetrock, desks, computers, glass, etc., as well as smoke and dust. What chance would a human body have in amongst all that?
Importantly in the context of what just happened in Russia: It is not widely understood that children died in those buildings and on those planes. There were infants and young children on those planes, yet that didn't stop the radical Islamic monsters from using their small bodies as part of what became missiles aimed at ground targets.
We must not forget, true. More importantly, we must remove the blinders of sanitization that the media placed on 9/11, and see the full horror of those events. It's the only thing that will prevent us from becoming complacent ever again.
