Here is a post about an exchange that I had with the Dallas Morning News about Burkett. The prime pusher for Burkett at the Dallas Morning News is Wayne Slater, who co-wrote the book "Bush's Brain." Slater never has retracted his stupid story. He's one of Kerry's biggest supporters at the Dallas Morning News and few people there seem bothered by the rank partisanship of his "reporting."

For what it is worth below are quotes from Burkett taken from the Timeswatch.org site who obtained it from a NYT article written by Blumenthal.

I believe this quote came after the last election and before the Iraq War. It surely indicates troubling thinking closely to akin to paranoid delusions; however, taken out of context no definitive statement can be made.

That is an excellent quote and I've only seen bits of it posted.

The reasoning is key. Not only the reasoning of what appears to be a clumsy forgery advanced as evidence but the reasoning in gleefully accepting the forgery and perpetrating it.

I think there is a mental imbalance of this camp.

Just got an e-mail from a reporter who knows Burkett and has interviewed him for stories in the past. According to this reporter, Burkett was not the source of the documents.

The most interesting thing to me is that he said that the paper is working hard to find the source. Considering that he e-mailed me around 11:00 on a Sunday night, I'm inclined to take his word.

I still haven't ruled out Burkett but I'm becoming confident that we'll know the source soon.
