If there really is significant voter fraud, why hasn't the GOP leadership come up with a strategic plan (and the political cover to pull it off) to deal with it?

I believe that it does happen, but it is kind of like useless speculation about how many angels can sit on the head of a needle.

Until the GOP leadership has the willpower to do something about this, talk about fraud is just so much whining...

We have massive fraud in California,

I hear we have massive fraud in Boston -- and since there's hardly every any Republicans running, it must be the Dems using it against each other! A friend of my sister's used to be high up in the Boston Elections Department; after a local primary a couple of years ago (with low turnout even for a local primary), he told her -- after knocking himself out, because he didn't feel he could trust most of the people under him -- he was satisfied that it was a "fairly" clean election.

Thanks for raising this at a critcal time. The cheating in 2000 was never exposed except here and in these few books.Somehow I'm not any more secure knowing kerry's lawyers and kofi will be "overseeing and monitoring".

Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens our Democracy

By John Fund

The Florida Fiasco of 2000, with hanging chads, butterfly ballots and Supreme Court intervention, forced Americans to confront an ugly reality. The U.S. has the sloppiest election systems of any industrialized nation, so sloppy that at least eight of the 19 hijackers who attacked the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were actually able to register to vote in either Virginia or Florida while they made their deadly preparations for 9/11.

In Stealing Elections, John Fund takes the reader on a national tour of voter fraud scandals ranging from rural states like Texas and Mississippi to big cities such as Philadelphia and Milwaukee. He explores dark episodes such as the way "vote brokers" stole a mayoral election in Miami in 1998 by tampering with 4700 absentee ballots. He shows how, in the aftermath of the Motor Voter Law of 1993, Californians used mail-in forms to get absentee ballots for fictitious people and pets, while in St. Louis it was discovered that voter rolls included 13,000 more names than the U.S. Census listed as the total number of adults in the city.

Election officials try to reassure voters by turning to computerized voting machines. But Fund shows that with the new technology come even greater concerns. Early in 2004, for instance, the state of Maryland, which has 16,000 new Diebold machines, commissioned a security expert to try to rig a practice election. He and his team broke into the computer at the State Board of Elections, completely changed the outcome of the election, left, and erased their electronic trail—all in under five minutes.

Stealing Elections gives us a chilling portrait of our electoral vulnerability—in the 2004 presidential election and on into the future. Writing with urgency and authority, John Fund shows how a lethal combination of bureaucratic bungling and ballot rigging have put our democracy at risk.

John Fund is a member of the Wall Street Journal's editorial board and writes the paper's daily Political Diary. He has written on voter fraud and election irregularities for the last decade in the Wall Street Journal, New Republic, American Spectator and other publications. In the past year, Fund has made over 90 appearances on Fox News, MSNBC, C-Span, and CNBC.

Elle Bee... thanks for the link to the book!!

Travis... I think 2000 was an eye opener to a lot of folks. Clearly revealed what many had suspected and confirmed what some knew. IMHO, this election "vote" will be nasty. Pale in comparison. We are in an absolute struggle for our country. Libs will stop at nothing. Thanks for the info.

Don't forget, Irving Schlossberg, a Democrat official in Palm Beach was caught with a voting machine in the trunk of his car. You don't think that could have been used in manipulating ballots, do you? :)

BTW, having the machine was illegal. I wonder what his punishment was? Being named Democrat of the year?

"Until the GOP leadership has the willpower to do something about this, talk about fraud is just so much whining..."

Why of course!

You wouldn't want to get your hands dirty by volunteering to help watch the polls, would you?

Who's whining?

"First published in 1992, "Votescam" was immediately banned in major chain bookstores, which listed the book as "out of print." Since then we have waged a constant battle to have them change this listing, and many individual stores have complied. If you have trouble ordering a copy from Barnes and Noble, Borders, or other major chains, please let them know the book is available. Have them contact Victoria House Press. They can order directly from us."

The major bookstore chains and lunatic lib owned locals have pulling this scam for at least a decade.

"Good thing they can't 'SPIKE' electronic voting machines."

These machines were designed to make vote fraud easier. Back doors. Software code that nobody ever sees. You must be kidding. Look up "Diebold" in the dictionary; it is a synonym for "fraud". Or do a google search.

Eventually they will push toward 'internet' voting, and claim all kinds of "security". Just imagine the ease of vote fraud when everybody votes from a PC.

I sent it to Oreilly & Hannity. Doubt that they will pick it up, but America deserves the truth. It is my opinion that FOX won't run it because they cannot be fair & "balanced" - the GOP doesn't stuff the box and it is a tradition with the DEMS...that is why they employed Bill Daly in the last election - Mayor Daly's son.
