I was having an argument with another FReeper about how many of the old timers were still around. I tell people there is a FReeper vsyndrome and that most of them are still around, they just don't post much anymore.

Heheh... Mojo was posting links to maps saying that there were *nightly* gun battles in Venice CA with AK-47 fire lacing up and down the street like a Sam Peckinpah movie. Bodies three deep along the gutters, and whatnot.
Even Fallujah probably isn't that bad, oh but West Los Angeles was. Not South Central LA mind you, but *West* LA.
I was living only a few blocks from the places in question at the time, and he was in New York City.

No better place for news than Free Republic. I find more expert commentary here than any news organization or news paper.
I seldom post because my first reaction to most news in the MSM is hot-headed, laced with profanity and usually has a violent solution. After I calm down I'm more coherent but by then the conversation has moved on.

Did we ever find out what happened to Chief Negotiator? I didn't. Last I heard they knew it was arson and had a suspect, but not enough evidence for an indictment. But I've been out of touch on that one - for quite awhile I couldn't read those threads. I really liked the Chief.
