Interesting that one reviewer slammed on the score for putting an electronic sound in a period movie. The composer (Vangelis, who indeed did "Bladerunner"), did the same in "1492" and "Chariots of Fire" -- winning an Academy Award for the latter effort.

I bought the score, but I am giving this film a wide berth.

Are apolitical film reviews a thing of the past?

I saw a car review in the LA Slimes a while back that took several shots at president Bush.

Another reviewer on their site posted a hilarious talkback comment saying 'this film will be gayer than LOTR and Phantom of the Opera combined..'

I'm trying to remember the good Oliver Stone movie, but I'm drawing a blank.

I really liked South Central. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Didn't Stone write the screenplay to Conan the Barbarian?

"Say what you want, the football movie was decent. Not great, but decent."

Yeah, I thought so too. I would never actually watch a real football game but I liked the movie. I can't remember the evil blonde's real name but it was a pleasure watching her get it in the end.

Didn't he do "Natural Born Killers"? I saw that because Juliette Lewis is such a natural psychopath. Rotten depiction of small town America, though.

South Central was directed by Steve Anderson.

Yeah, I wasn't buying Jamie Fox as a football player either (he looks like he did a great job in Ray though). The whole casting of that movie was bizarre, but I'll check it out next time it shows up on one of my billion cable channels.

I do remember Oliver Stone's "The Hand" movie was pretty funny when I was a kid. Unfortunately, I think it was supposed to be scary.

All of Stone's films are bascially a mess when they are released, anyway.

Suprised Vangelis is back doing the score, I thought the studio would have pushed for someone meladramatc like James Horner.

Yes he did with John Milus. And he wrote midnight Express and Scarface (83 version with Pacino of course) as well.

Despite Brad Pitt's raunchy politics, I have to say I liked "Troy".

Oliver Stone is another over rated, un talented hollywood diz. I'm glad I've never put any money in any of the crap put out in hollywood. I went to see "Shall We Dance" recently. Another, POS movie that leaves you empty and angry that you wasted two hours of your life, that someday when you're in your nineties you'll wish you had back, just so you could one last time chase after the nurses in the nursing home.

Thanks for the critique as I was looking for an excuse not to go..

nick

PS--"Friday Night..." Now that was one good movie, folks!!!!

Yeah, don't spend any extra dollars to see it. I don't want you mad at me or anything. (Man, talk about waffling on the review, huh? I should work for John Kerry.)

Was he at all believable in the role?

Not even a little bit.

Cameron Diaz is awful in it, as well.

In the History channel show, they stated Alexander had a close male friend, obviously, he therefore had a homosexual relationship. The show was not all that bad, but how the hell do you draw this conclustion is beyond me.
