I just got a call. The Mother-in-law was due to leave Union Station in DC heading for Raleigh. The Station has been evacuated and police and sirens all over. I'm cubicle bound. Any info on the news?

Does this mean the Mother-in-law might not make it to NC????? At least, maybe, delayed by a few days?!!! DANG! that's just too bad..... I am really, really distraught over this development....... (sniff, sniff...)

I don't think there's anything out there yet about what's going on. That police feed might be the best bet

My son just called from Union Station. The alarms went off shortly after he checked his bags. While we were on the phone the fire engines arrived and I could hear the sirens over our connection. He says no smoke, not sure what is going on, but he IS sure he will miss his connection in NYC.
I've been lurking since 1998 - this is my first post. In the time it took me to register the story was reported here. You guys are awesome!

My office has a clear view of Union Station, and as far as I could tell, there were no police or fire engines in front of Union Station in Columbus Circle. But I couldn't see the back, so I can't be 100% sure.

Do you see a normal amount of traffic going in and out?
To: SilentServiceCPOWife
I was afraid I would be sucked in and not get any work done... but that happened anyway, so I finally decided why not.
And then there are those TROLL alerts! And Flames! And ZOTS! It's a dangerous place out there in Freeperland... but now it is time for my shower.
To: TheRatHunter
I saw the normal line of taxi cabs.
