I just heard from my son who is in high school right now. The mother-in-law accidently called his cell phone so he was delivering the message to me. It was a bomb scare of some sort, all clear. The M-I-L's train will be an hour late....
sigh... ;-)
I imagine you could expect a similar delay if you are waiting for your son.
Welcome to FreeRepublic and Merry Christmas!

Oh, and if anyone has any simple solutions on how to get cat hair off your tongue after you finish giving them a bath, let me know. Thanks! The obvious solution is to not get the hair on your tongue in the first place. Get another cat so that they can bathe each other. Or better yet, have your wife or girlfriend do the bathing.
If neither of those options are available, just do what my cat does. Hack it up on the carpet.

Hack it up on the carpet - I don't know about that. The steamcleaner doesn't work on blood stains, and I'd hate to have to scrub... oh, wait you meant hack up a hairball. Never mind ;0)

I just tried to call my son and he never picked up, so I am assuming that is GOOD news. Cell on, signal too weak. I hope he can get a connecting train out of NYC so he can be home tonight.
Fortunately, he has friends from when he used to live there if he needs a place to stay. He worked on Park Ave down the street from Grand Central during the 9/11 crisis and his first day back at work there were 75 bomb threats in the neighborhood. One little bomb threat isn't enough to faze him.

I don't actually start coughing and itching unless I touch the cat. Most of the time anyway. But, who can resist scratching a cat if it is around.
To: Chad Fairbanks
oh, wait you meant hack up a hairball. LOL... Yeah, that's what I meant. This darned work is getting in the way of FReeping. Someone always manages to call my desk when I'm trying to post.

Hello,
Welcome to FR! I totally understand, as I lurked for about the same time before posting. Don't be surprised if you get a marriage proposal, as some here think a woman who doesn't say much is pretty interesting! Glad to be here, MOgirl

I've been lurking since 1998 - this is my first post. In the time it took me to register the story was reported here. You guys are awesome!
Well, HOWDY!

My limit is two, they keep each other company when I'm at work and I'm still in charge when I get home!
Who am I kidding, they allow me to stay, the "LitterMaid" put down a total revolt.

Is that your daughter? What a cutie! I told my wife when we start having kids I want a girl first!
To: Hatteras
Your name is being turned over to the authorities investigating the Union Station incident, considering your Mother-in-Law motive and NOW an extra steak!!
;-)
(Hope everyone is fine)

Is that your daughter? What a cutie!Alas, no. (SIGH)
I found the pic while doing a Google image search, and was unable to resist using her as my mouthpiece whenever I want to be "cute". :-)

It was a bomb scare of some sort, all clear. Thank God! I feared the worst...a 10-year-old girl running with scissors.

Only on Free Republic can one go to a serious thread about an emergency at Union Station and wind up reading a discussion of cats being hacked up and/or hacking up hairballs.
Gotta love it.
