Swift Boat Veterans Vow to Continue
NewsMax ^ | Dec 17, 2004 | Limbacher

Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, the group that John Kerry's campaign mismanager blames/thanks for the Democrat presidential nominee's defeat, promises that it won't go away.

Recently enlarged and renamed Swift Boat Veterans and POWs for Truth, it is keeping an eye on Kerry, who has thrilled Republicans by saying he might run for president again in 2008.

William E. Franke, who runs the organization's day-to-day operations, pointed out to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the group was need because the media establishment failed to report adequately and accurately on the admitted war criminal Kerry's past.

"They have called us rag merchants and liars and scum and every name under the sun. But what he has never done is respond substantively to our accusations," Franke said.

Swift Boat Veterans and POWs for Truth has grown to "a substantive organization" with a donor list of 150,000, he said.

He said the group might help distribute the documentary "Stolen Honor: Wounds that Never Heal," which NewsMax aired on television nationwide after left-wing groups censored Sinclair Broadcast Group's attempt to show it.

Franke noted that it was an injustice that the Bush-hating film "Fahrenheit 911" could be shown so widely by the same types who muzzled "Stolen Honor."

"One thing I suspect we may do is join in an effort so that the POWs are able to get their message out," he told the paper.

I've been following this very closely and that's my take also.

But Rassman's claim is very shacky. Since he was under water at the time. Gardner had a good take on what really happened. Essentially saying that when the mine exploded we all started firing which was SOP. Then ceased after it became obvious there was no enemy fire.

I agree with Gardner too. That's the likeliest explanation.

The thing that gets me about that whole incident is Kerry taking a powder when the mine went off, leaving the other two crews to handle the emergency. That even made the Washington Post, but the talking heads mostly ignored it.

Perhaps in '08, the Kerry campaign will put out their "black book" on the Swifties before campaigning to discredit them. Kerry isn't done yet, I can feel it. So everytime he raises his ugly head, somebody step on it.

I heard Rassman was on the payroll, but it was never verified. I spent time looking at FEC records (line item disbursments) to see if the Kerry Campaign ever paid him, but came up dry (only looked at October records). They may have washed his payments through the DNC as was done with other operatives.

But the guy was constantly on the campaign trail.

As for the Bay Hap stories, there were huge holes. Like the guy who for the AP interview could only remember the firefight being sometime in February, but had lived 30 years near his fallen comrade's tomb which had the specific date on it. He didn't mention the tomb (with the exact date) to the AP reporter, and that kind of disconnect in a Vietnamese village is simply not credible. In "The Village", everyone knows everything about everyone.

And any reporter who accepts the word of a VC supervised by a Communist Party minder is simply gullible beyond belief.

Mike McCurry calling the Swifties dishonorable?

This was on some sort of panel discussion on C-SPAN. Fortunately, the guy who ran PR for the SWIFTvets was also on the panel and didn't let McCurry get away with it.

The last question of the day was "What was your most memorable moment during the campaign", and the PR dude gave a very moving description of his work with the SWIFTvets, how honorable and brave they were, how they were so relieved to be telling the truth after so many years, etc.

McCurry sat there like a big sourpuss, shaking his head in contempt, looked like he wanted to start a fight with the guy. A typical despicable Rat.

McCurry is actually more repellent as a private citizen than he ever was as Clinton's press secretary.

The few Swiftees who supported Kerry seemed to be in lockdown in hotels the whole campaign, denying interviews to the press. I assumed they were on the payroll, but never saw any evidence.

Their participation was low-key, but I specifically recall seeing a Rassman schedule one week, he was hitting 3 or 4 cities in Florida in October.

Someone in Rassman's financial position doesn't do that for free.

If anybody truly believes that Kerry will run again (or at least that he'd be nominated again), I've got a couple of bridges...

Well, the DUmmies have done stranger things. Like nominate Hillary perhaps.

You KNOW how I feel.....

John Kerry should be brought up on charges....given a fair trial...convicted..have a rope placed around his neck.....and left to swing in the breeze until he stops twitching.

I recall the Ineffable, just the other day, telling me that it had granted them no mandate, and had no plans to do so. It wanted me to let you know.
