White House Wants Military Votes Counted in Washington State
www.whitehouse.gov ^ | 1/6/2004 | White House press briefing

From Thursday's White House press briefing:

JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: Thank you. While the Democrats are challenging the Ohio results on Capitol Hill, Democrats in Washington state have disqualified any number of military votes in order to win that gubernatorial election there. Considering that American soldiers are in Iraq fighting to give those people there the right to vote, the right to free and fair elections, don't you think we owe it to them to make sure their votes are counted back home?

MR. McCLELLAN: Every eligible vote ought to be counted. We've made that very clear in the past.

JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: This -- nobody is taking up for these men and women --

MR. McCLELLAN: And certainly our men and women in uniform ought to have the opportunity to participate in our democratic system, as well, and have their vote counted, just like everybody else.

JEFF GANNON, TALON NEWS: Will the Commander-in-Chief speak out so that these votes will be counted?

MR. McCLELLAN: I think our views are very well-known, and that's an issue that continues with -- between the Republican Party and Democratic Party in the state.

For the life of me, I don't know why the Wa. GOP hasn't made more of an issue out of this.

The libturds ALWAYS toss our votes out ASAP. They KNOW that the military is 95% CONSERVATIVE! Why do you think Al Boredom got 15,000 absentee ballots chucked in 2000 election in Florida? Dipstick knew the deal.

WE HATE LIBTURDS IN THE MILITARY!

I'd like to know how/why these military votes were "disqualified". Anyone?

Well, since the latest recount gave the dims a victory, they'll stop counting now. Any further recounts would, obviously, be unnecessary.

That title is highly misleading. I'd hardly call the transcript portion you've quoted as any kind of ringing endorsement of having those votes counted.

Votes were disqualified because they arrived late from the war zone. The absentee ballots were mailed out late and arrived in Iraq one or two days before Election Day.

THIS WILL BE A GREAT DAY INDEED IF THE PRESIDENT PICKS UP ON THIS AND DEMANDS THAT MILITARY VOTES BE COUNTED IN WASHINGTON!

THAT would cause massive chaos to the DemonRat party... They'd be hard pressed then... Do they attack the military openly? Do they back off on their ridiculous vote fraud claims? Do they keep relying on their National Media Propaganda wing to try to hide this as it continues to break?

They're in a REALLY bad situation...

It's about as good as it gets from the White House these days.

IIRC it was a timeliness issue. They either weren't sent out or back in time.

The headline is totally misleading. McClellan ducked the questions completely. He did not say what the headline says. The White House is not involved with this at all.

This is unbelieveable. They want every vote counted - unless its a Republican vote or its military.

King County (and probably others) was negligent in sending out the ballots in time for military voters to vote and return them in time for the election deadline. It was an extremely short response time that would have required Federal Express overnight service in order to qualify. This was the most dastardly deed by the Democrats -- even worse than the fraud, because it slapped the face of our military personnel.

I think everybody should be allowed up to 3 votes;
1. Regular rules apply - everyone over 18 gets a voice
2. Veterans (incl. active duty & reserves) get a second voice
3. Business owners should also get another voice. They are the job-creators & economy-drivers.

I see the WH definitely is keeping the governor race in Washington alive.

Excellent news.

I hope they get a re-vote.
