U.S. INTELLIGENCE OBTAINS IRANIAN NUKE PLANS

WASHINGTON [MENL] -- The U.S. intelligence community has obtained plans for what was described as an Iranian project to develop a nuclear warhead.

Officials said the plans were obtained by the CIA in November from an unidentified source. They said the source relayed more than 1,000 pages of technical drawings and documents of an Iranian nuclear missile warhead design.

In November, 2004, officials said, the CIA had sought to confirm the authenticity of the Iranian documents. The Iranian documents -- first reported by the Washington Post on Nov. 19 -- were said to outline a design for a nuclear warhead of the enhanced Shihab-3 intermediate-range ballistic missile. Officials said a warhead capable of containing a nuclear bomb appeared have been developed for the launch of the Shihab-3 in October 2004.

Iran has acknowledged that information from its nuclear program has been leaked to opposition sources and Western intelligence agencies. Since last August, Teheran has reported arrests of unidentified scientists and technicians in Iran's nuclear program.

How about this? We have our weapons experts design a seriously flawed warhead. A warhead that would detonate at the most unexpected time! Then we have someone pass the plans on to Iran as though providing it was the result of a serious security breach. Then just sit back and wait for the world's seismic stations to report the success of our plan. Another approach would be to simply nuke on of their military facilities and then claim it was an 'accident' resulting from their pursuit of nuclear weapons. There would be no one left to say the explosion was anything other than an unfortunate accident.

Brevity is a virtue, finding info on Free Republic in a given area is getting to be a real problem.

Your efforts should help when checking on news relative to Iran.

If this is for real, lets make sure it is. The Iranians can be doing the same thing as you are suggesting.

Slipping the Iranians a faulty design plan would be possible, but it wouldn't be such a great idea if they figured out the flaw and made it work. It would be better to ship them a completed nuclear warhead from "Pakistan"
that would detonate when they attemped to launch it, or detonated when it was put in their "secret" location.

The Mossad chief yesterday warned that soon Iran will reach a no return point:

http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1106537797955

Iran's nuclear program is close to the "point of no return," at which they will no longer need outside or international help to enrich uranium for use in atomic weapons, Mossad Chief Meir Dagan told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Monday.

The international community is not using all of its capabilities to curb the Iranian program, Dagan stressed.

Dagan assessed United States Vice President Dick Cheney comment last week, which mentioned the possibility of Israeli action against Iran in order to provoke European countries to take action, as an attempt at provoking the international community to take action against Iran before it is too late.

Cheney, in an MSNBC interview on the day US President George W. Bush was inaugurated for a second term, said Iran was at the top of the American administration's list of world trouble spots.

Cheney said that the Administration is concerned by Iran's combination of pursuing "a fairly robust nuclear program" and a history of sponsoring terrorism.

"If, in fact, the Israelis became convinced the Iranians had significant nuclear capability, given the fact that Iran has a stated policy that their objective is the destruction of Israel, the Israelis might well decide to act first, and let the rest of the world worry about cleaning up the diplomatic mess afterwards," Cheney said.

Concern has been increasing recently over the threat of Iran becoming a nuclear power, as the country has continued to develop technologies and resources for the manufacture of atomic weapons, despite international pressures to halt its nuclear program.

On Monday Vice Premier Shimon Peres said he was convinced that Iran is single-handedly the world's most serious security threat.

"Iran is the main problem of the Middle East. I do not think that the matter of Iran needs to be turned into an Israeli problem – it is a matter of concern to the whole world," Peres said in an interview with Israel Radio.

"It is the United States which must decide, not us. If we go it alone, we will end up alone," Peres added.

National Security Council chief Maj. Gen. (res.) Giora Eiland said that Teheran has stepped its activities supporting terrorist organizations operating against Israel, speaking to Israel Radio.

"The Iranians have established within the Hizbollah a separate wing, whose job is to recruit people, including Israeli Arabs but chiefly Palestinians, and they are paid great amounts of money. As long as this continues, it will be very difficult to stop [terrorist] activity."

Meanwhile, Iran has accused Israel of orchestrating the tough US stance against its nuclear program, responding to Cheney's assertion that Iran is a top security priority for the United States.

"Iran has always said that Tel Aviv decides US policies and that the Zionist lobby is so powerful in the United States. Therefore we were not surprised by such remarks," Hamid Reza Asefi, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry in Teheran, said Sunday.

President Bush also has said the United States does not rule out the option of military action against Iran.

In January Iran agreed to give UN inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency access to a huge military site allegedly linked to a secret nuclear weapons program.

Iran has been the main focus of the IAEA since mid-2002, after revelations of two secret nuclear facilities - a uranium enrichment plant at Natanz and a heavy water production plant near Arak.

That led to a subsequent IAEA investigation of what turned out to be nearly two decades of covert nuclear activities, including suspicious 'dual use' experiments that can be linked to weapons programs.

---Probably the Mossad and the CIA are working together on the issue. I really hope they are.

I do believe the regime has a dangerous nuke project but I never trust the dates Media, diplomats and ...etc give every time.

One say, they will get to the point of no return in October 2003.
The other say, they will get to that point in 2009.

Dates are not important any more. All of us know that no one can give a knife to some one who is not trusted.

The Mullahs can not be trusted!

I agree.
Its all probably just talking around for the media so it will invent its own stories while the real attack will be surprising and secret when no one is expecting it.

And Israel is very good in surprises.
