LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Actress Stockard Channing, who plays the fictional president's wife on the NBC political drama "The West Wing," has been charged with drunken driving, police say.
Channing, 60, was stopped on a Los Angeles freeway last month in her black Porsche after driving through a roadblock by highway patrol officers to clear away an accident.
Officers said they smelled alcohol on her breath and when she failed a sobriety test, she was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. A February 9 court date has been set in the case.
Channing, a prolific film and television actress, is best known for her role as first lady Abigail Bartlet in the Emmy-winning drama "The West Wing".

This is the article's actual title. Not sure whether to be furious or to just chuckle.

What should one expect from Reuters......anything for a catchy headline. I can't believe Stockard Channing is 60! With all of the soft focus lenses and plastic surgery she looks 50. Hope she gets her act together.

Actress Stockard Channing, who plays the fictional president's wife on the NBC political drama "The West Wing," has been charged with drunken driving, police say. Wonder if the charge will be called fictional by her lawyers as they blame the police for this. Actually, working with that creep Sheen would drive me to drink or go postal.

Apparently, one manifestation of excessive drinking is blind support of liberals and left-wing causes.

Is this Stockyard Channing related to the world's greatest female impersonator, Carol Channing?

Marty Sheen IS president for a lot of these demented liberal a-holes.
To: Chi-townChief
Will Sheen refer to her as a "white-knuckle drunk"?

She gave money to John Anderson, Kerry and Conyers, but not to Billary? Interesting. She may be a leftist, but she may also be able to spot a rapist when she sees one.
I actually voted for Anderson back in 1980. I was standing in line near our home in California waiting to vote for Reagan when Jimmy Carter came on the radio and conceded. I got into the voting booth a few minutes later and decided to vote for Anderson so the poor schlub would qualify for matching funds and could pay off his campaign debt.

Now that Sheen is going away, I'm actually curious what the liberal a-holes will do. While Alan Alda may be a favorite of libs, if he plays a republican you know he'll be a real a-hole. Not sure that will appeal to their audience. My guess is that they will go with Jimmy Smitts, as the young idealistic and charismatic democrap.

Could it be that they just spell things differently than we do. They have the Queen's English and we use American English.
