Some people have easier more complacent children than others.
Do you have trouble distinguishing between prescription and recreational drugs too?
It's about teaching children there are consequences to their actions.
For adults there are consequences too, like prison.
What's wrong with parents' hands??
That is because any success would be anecdotal at best, and disingenuous at worst. One might as well ask a communist about economics.
If the child doesn't require corporal punishment, there is no need for it.
""the Bible""- Not always
""the help of an extended family""- What is this? It takes a village? Someone get Hillary,
9-inch-long spanking paddles of blue polyurethane, "Umm, no I don't think so"
Do the little paddles and whips work wonders on their furry pets too?
You think they aren't Christian just because they spank their kids?
Agree. There is something a little disturbing about ordering a specially constructed "whipping rod" from an on-line entrepreneur.
This is absolutely the best method I've ever witnessed. The parent that used it on me (they were divorced) only needed to use it once, and I still remember it fondly, once I grew old enough to appreciate what was being done.
The other parent was abusive, and is still an object of unapologetic antipathy on my part.
LOL! My 1st or 2nd grade public school teacher had a large wooden paddle with the word "CANDY" drilled out. Don't have any recollection of it ever being used though.
Or was it my calling them fundamentalist "christian" types, you took offense with?
How is this discipline, the object of which is to inculcate self-regulation? All you did iis restrain them from that which you didn't approve. Moeover, how do you practice your method on multiple children simultaneously?
In life, the consequences of foolish actions are painful, not negotiable.
While you're at it, can you show me one line that permits mothers to hit children of either sex.
Finally, show me one line that demonstrates the fine results of Solomon's techniques in rearing his son.
And any of that would support your vapid assertions, how?
Why don't you mull the implications of your insistence on using the phrase "hitting children," in this discussion.
Consider your inability to craft any kind of argument without the use of rank demagogery in an attempt to shame opposition to your view. Then consider what other segments of society use such tactics.
This is very true Laura, but have you ever considered how one would deal with a passive-aggressive child? Rest assured, they do exist.
Make up your mind. Spanking *is* corporeal punishment. And different "tools and implements" have been used by parents over the course of centuries to spank their children. To be upset over that is absurd.
Or was it my calling them fundamentalist "christian" types, you took offense with?
If you had read my post with any comprehension, you would have understood that clearly.
So I ask again: You think they aren't Christian just because they spank their kids?
Prov 13:24 "He who spares his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him promptly.
Prov 19:18 "Discipline your son while there is hope, And do not desire his death."
Prov 22:15 "Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of discipline will remove it far from him." Prov 23:13-14 "Do not hold back discipline from the child, Although you strike him with the rod, he will not die. You shall strike him with the rod and rescue his soul from Sheol."
Prov 29:15 "The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother."
Prov 29:17 "Correct your son, and he will give you comfort; he will also delight your soul."
"I suspect you'd be refering to the ever increasing Social,Progressive,Liberal Christian?"
That's just one variety... there some so-called conservative christians that justify certain things that I would never do, just to entertain their kids... but that comes down to weak parenting again.. "the kids love it so I have to hand it to them" mentality... aughh!
You sound like an excellent parent... I let my husband smack the little one's behind because when I do it, my hand swells up because my skin is so sensitive.. the phrase "this will hurt me more than it hurts you" definitely applies...hehe..
