I went out at 530 this AM to drive the fory miles to work. I have a 1/4 mile driveway but I was unfazed. Until I backed my fourwheel drive with diff lock on out of the garage. The snow was so deep and packed that it just lifted the body up. I managed to crab it into the garage, and called to say I would be late.
I called my plow man and his wife said that he was out and stuck in his two ton plow rig. He was waiting for some help to arrive in the form of his giant tractor plow.
Haven't seen a snow like this for a while.... and I am no wuss.
How many here think that just because a thought occurs to you or a snowdrift blocks your driveway, that incident must be shared with the rest of the world via the internet, just because you have the tecnhology? Show of hands - NOW!
Meeeee! Heck, I was trolling for some strong backs to help me out.
What is that thing?
Must be Global Warming
There was 30 inches of Global Warming in my dooryard this morning.
My Dad's from Van Buren, Maine. He told me about some of the crazy snowfalls.
Personally, I like things a little more temperate :). I moved to PA within the last couple of years and I'm still not used to the winters. I already hate snow.
Boy, the Maine was bred out of you fast.
How is the heater in the cab?
I hear you, Appy. I meant no disrespect. I just sort of enjoy the rivalry between the services, which I hope is done in good spirit.
It's all done in good spirits...but dont ever leave your dog alone again....
Ahem, we used to walk seven miles to school in those conditions.
Uphill, both ways?
Where in Maine are you?
15 minutes from LL Bean.
Oh no. I want to take it back. HELP, save Sophie. Lord knows she couldn't save herself.
If I can afford it, I'm going to get her a snowblower before next winter.
Or at least a new shovel...
SIR. YOu are a gentleman and a scholar.
;^)
*GASP!* I can't believe I'm the first:
"It's Bush's fault!"
THE WINNER!
Don't worry, Dennis Quaid will be there soon to spirit you to the warm safety of Mexico, so keep those books burning! ;)
I wouldn't go to Mexico on a bet. Now a little villa in Tuscany....
Whoa--you need a snow thrower (or a plow for the front of your 4WD).
Do you know how much trouble I have with just forward and reverse? mlmr is known as equipment-challenged on this site.
We lost power from noon til 7 pm. I put the kids to bed at six and now can Freep in peace.
It's a chilly 48° here...
How are you going to build character with those numbers?
Yeth, it is, isn't it.
I'm a newcomer here, and not long for it at all.
An interesting observation though, the absolute dirth of sheep in Iowa has led me to surmise that the natives have pretty much scared them out-of-state.
By that standard this storm was pretty tame.
Back in the seventies I lived north of Skowhegen. Had a storm where we cleared from the second story window and had to use rods to find the car.
I was young then, and foolish.
Hope you found Hubby.
If in March your vehicle is 43% mud
If it is February and your vehicle is 52% salt.
