This week Move America Forward conducted a "Support the Troops" candlelight vigil across from the home of Steve & Virginia Pearcy.
The Pearcy's you will recall hanged a U.S. soldier in effigy - from a noose with an American flag balled up in the soldier's helmet - above the Iraqi flag of Saddam Hussein as part of their anti-war protest. In the adjacent window they hanged the Palestinian flag.
Despite pouring rain for most of the three hour vigil, several hundred people from northern California turned out to show that Free Speech works both ways - the Pearcy's do not own a monopoly on it, and free speech includes the right to oppose offensive displays that undermine the brave men and women of our Armed Forces.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Mark Williams of KFBK 1530 - Sacramento and Deborah Johns of Northern California Marine Moms for helping Move America Forward make this event a success.
I hope you enjoy the pictures from the "Support The Troops Candlelight Vigil" - Tuesday, February 15, 2005 from 7:00 - 10:00 PM Pacific.
Darn straight we do and the protestors did a great job of that, too!
Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it. I would have loved to but was too buzy working.
But It was a great opportunity to have a thread going that I could comment on until y'all got back to yer computers and dried out...
Impeach, thanks for posting those two clips at the top of the thread.
You bet it has and thanks to places like FR it will grow stronger and stronger every day!
Oops you're right ....
Heartwarming and inspirational...bravo!
Thank you all !!
Impeach98, thank you so much for the ping to this - awesome!
Great Work!
".the kind of look you see when looking at someone who is sold over to some crackpot cult"
Somehow I doubt that Bill Clinton, Wes Clark and Janet Reno would have gone "Waco" on their ass.......
;)
"Having a few hundred people protest outside my house would tend to freak me out."
I'm feeling fairly sure that the Anti-american Pearcys were feeling pretty freaked out. Good, it couldn't happen to a more deserving two pieces of trash.
Works for me.
Does anyone know what these trash do for a living? Or are they retired? Please don't tell me that they are retired government workers.
It would be good to know if they have a business that needs Freeping.
ain't it sweet?!!
They're Lawyers
Referefence your post # 29:
They understand perfectly.
They know exactly what they mean.
They know exactly what they stand for.
They hate and despise everythin that is good and decent.
They hate and despise the United States and what it stands for.
They will work until their dying breath to eradicate every vestage of good and decency from the face of the earth.
They will either wipe us out or we will wipe them out.
There is no middle ground.
There is no converting them.
You bet - Melanie and the whole Move America Forward team enjoyed them very much as well ;)
Oh brother. Leave it to liberals to live in Berkeley and have a weekend home in Sacremento.
Though it's actually anti-troop, you're correct, they are clearly anti-American and by 'posting' such an effigy, they invite 'comments' from others. What happened to returning Nam vets was a shame and we'll not tolerate a repeat. Our sons and daughters deserve better and dammit, no two Berkley lawyers are gonna change that.
That we'll tolerate such sh*t-stupidness on their part testifies to the fact that we're not fascists. That they'd go beyond the pale to incite a fascistic response suggests that, either they would wish fascism upon us (in a liberal form) or a desire to instill fascism that they might one day, utilize to their advantage.
Unbeknownst to them, we can topple a stinking brutal dictator abroad while maintaining our constitutional perogatives here at home.
Our troops should never, ever be pawns in a political debate. Either make the case that they're not needed to peform a mission in our country's best interest and call them home, or shut the hell up.
You go political with our troops and you'll reap the whirlwind. Welcome to 2005.
I think it's wonder\ ful!
