"It is interesting to note he may have overestimated the UN, they took the bribes and said nothing, at least in time to do Saddam any good."

Surely Saddam knew that plenty of the Bluehelmeted Thugs would be glad to take hush money. I think you've given him WAY too much credit. He is Machiavellian, for sure. But no Clausewitz....or Annan.

Nice to know that Blix and Ritter are honest men...they STAY bought, even after the purchaser is completely cashed out.

I suspect that most of Saddam's players...all believed that Saddam did have secret programs...and they felt it was in the best interest of Iraq to keep them secret. Saddam kept telling them...almost daily...that he had programs. They must have believed it...although no one ever went to one of these programs or knew what was really going on in the govenrment.

I wonder if the sites ruled out by the UN were reinspected after the invasion...?

Saddam wanted to RESTART his weapons programs.

The Duelfer report outlines Saddam's rationale to keep pretending he had WMD when he didn't, in fact, have any stockpiles worth mentioning. In the middle of the Middle East, surrounded by enemies (inside and outside of Iraq), he still needed to be seen as a threat.

He kept his capability to produce WMD intact and he was just waiting for the right time and the end of the UN sanctions to restart them (I'm sure some of it would then have, let's say, "slipped" into some agent's or al-Qaeda's hands to be used in the US after that.)

Trying to buy off the weapons inspectors would be entirely consistent with that.

He did buy off Scott Ritter and Galloway and lots of other people through the oil-for-food program so this is not a surprise at all.

My answer was, 'That is not the way we do business in Sweden.' "

They were used to dealing with France.

"I would love to see Scott Ritter locked up in some Saudi jail. One can dream."

Send Ritter to Iraq and let them try him as a war criminal and an abettor to the $oddomite and his thugs.

That will be the start to ending this bs in the UN, in the MSM and from political liberals around the world. If they took money from an Islamofacist tryant to lie and make him look good, they are guilty of terrible crimes to the innocent people in that country.

The bottom will drop out from under the U.N., U.S. Govt., and liberal media if we the little people ever find out just how many people were on Saddam's payroll. $21 billion skimmed from the oil-for-food program provides for a lot of bribe money. We know the top U.N. big guys got a piece of the action. There is no way in hell that France and Germany would be acting the way they are if they weren't well bribed. Bubba Klinton and the DemonRats in Congress were drafting war plans against Iraq in 1998 and they abruptly shelved their plans without a peep. It's pretty obvious they're dirty.

As usual, the liberals accuse their enemies of participating of the very games they're playing. They've claimed since day one that GW Bush was going to war for personal reasons and to get rich (can somebody tell me how Bush I got rich off Persian Gulf I?). The accusers are the worst offenders here.

"This is big news, I think."

It's big news in our minds, but the tragedy is that it never will become "big news" in the MSM. They never said anything about those sarin gas shells or the 500 tons of uranium. They will purposefully ignore this as well.

This is what makes these people so dangerous.

My question is, why would saddamn pay two mill to get a clean bill of health for weapons he didn't have?

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

That was my exact thought when I read the headline.

This won't get reported in the US media.

You are correct.

Only three publications reported the story (NY POST included), but take it a step further. Why does information such as this continue to be "weekend news"? As well, if the liberals were willing to permit Saddam to do his thing by simply turning their heads and pulling out soley as a result of weapons inspections, isn't it obvious why they are drawing the shades based on the "new" information? These people have adopted terrorists to love and to cherish, you, are the enemy.

Makes one wonder about the U.N. reports of NO WMD's huh

Who cares about the UN Reports - We have our own US Military reports which say they have found NO WMD's inside Iraq - Nor any residuals that would indicate any active WMD program -

What they did find was that Saddam had all the capabilities to start up a program for WMD's in somewhat of a short time period.

But it does not appear that he had any WMD up and running -
