Posted on 03/28/2005 8:08:43 PM PST by MindBender26
Steve Barrett reporting that "The Reverend Jessie Jackson has accepted the family's invitation to join the demonstrators outside the hospice where Terri is dying."
1. Is this turning into way too much of a circus?
2. Want to bet the race-baiting poverty pimp invited himself?
"1. Is this turning into way too much of a circus? "
But TerrI isn't Black and as a result there can't be any racism in this issue, so why is Jesse going? He does, after all, thrive on playing the race card.
This has turned into way too much of a circus.
Weel, now it is time for all the Dems to pile on in favor of Terri, about 3 seconds before she dies so THEY can look like the white (oops) knights that tried valiantly to save her while the rotten Repubs sat on their hands. That POS.
THings are truly desperate when Jesse Jackson is called in.
Jesse thinks Terri's tube should be reinserted. So do Ralph Nader and Joe Lieberman, and (I think) Tom Harkin.
It's like Selma all over again.
Oh this man has no shame. None. What can he possibly offer this grieving family?! If this kind of opportunistic chump was a Republican, we'd be FILETED over him and his antics.
His son did vote for the bill in Congress the other week.
Jessis Jack*ss said he had trouble with the ethics. Not surprising since he wouldn't know what ethics are if they bit him in the *ss.
This could be Democrat damage-control. We'll see if Jesse Jackass starts preaching and giving us the "Democraps are religious, too" argument.
I am not a Jackson fan (and he does seem to love to just get attention).
BUT in this case--his heart is in the right place--and since he has been advocating for the life of this poor helpless woman. He has been very vocal, speaking out on the behalf of T.S. and since most on the left are NOT pro-life--he has been taking some flack for this.
So--in my opinion he has every right to be there. It probably won't help--but I don't see how it can hurt...
"But TerrI isn't Black and as a result there can't be any racism in this issue, so why is Jesse going? He does, after all, thrive on playing the race card."
I always thought he thrived on the TV cameras
What took him so long? Doesn't he know that what is happening to Terri can happen to the "Black Community" as well? Especially now that it has become all to obvious that this nation is not moving "forward", it is retrogressing back to the days of States will decide who should be treated as human and who shouldn't.
Well now the circus is complete.
Randall Terry. Larry Klayman. Jesse Jackson.
Well, I'll give Old Jesse props for this one.
It can't hurt to see a liberal black Dem stand up for Terri's human rights.
I only wish more people from that side of the aisle would join in the fight to save Terri.
Jess Jackson con be right about something one or two percent of the time. He should have gotten there a week earlier.
War and politics again make strange bedfellows. Terri has Jesse Helms and Jesse Jackson in her corner.
If JJ gave a damn about Terri he would have been there MUCH earlier than 2 weeks ago!
This is all about JJ, just like anything he opens his yap about.
I'm fine with Action Jackson going in. Personally, I'd rather have Mr. T go in.
I'm going to barf..
I'm trying to figure out how Jackson is going to blame this on "whitey".
Where was Jesse on Days 1,2, 3,......10???
Lanny Davis is also against Terri starving/thirsting to death. And I think David Boies stated that he had problems with how the legal aspects were handled.
Well... I think all of our 'Republican' 'Conservative' officials have behaved completely ridiculous during this whole fiasco. Here is my opinion http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1366225/posts?page=108#108 Anyway, it is a fitting ending and I am glad to see it and I hope that it sends a message to all those who supported this circus. FYI, Here is a picture of Jesse Jackson marching with N.O.W. (National Organization of Women, a liberal feminist group) members against Welfare Reform, along with the results of the reforms they opposed. State Reform took effect around 1992-1994 and the National Bill was passed in 1996. The Republicans swept the house in 1994 promising a Contract with America. People are the same the world over. It is the political structure and governmental interference that make all the difference. Get Government out of peoples lives and they will succeed. To believe people cannot succeed without government help is to subscribe to what President Bush calls, the soft bigotry of low expectations. The reason they arent succeeding is BECAUSE of the government help, which only serves to subsidize poverty and single motherhood! For some reason, saying these things and passing bills that help millions of people out of poverty is said by the left to be cruel, hardnosed and racist. Maybe we should work on further improving these important things that make a REAL difference in people's lives instead of attempting to adjudicate from the keyboard on a he said she said family dispute
So where were they before March 18th and on days 1,2, 3, 4, 5.... when Terri's feeding tube has been pulled?
Mr. T, Laurence Tureaud (Tero) is very ill with cancer. Contrary to the TV image, he is a good, Christian man.
JJ needs to go home, shut up, and get a real JOB!!!!!
This mess needs him like a fire needs gasoline!!!!!
I wouldn't be so quick to lump Terry in with those others. Think about it.
Recent friends of Jesse.
Now that's going to be an interesting morning; it would be big fun to watch Jesse Jackson, Larry Klayman, Randall Terry, and Alan Keyes all trying to be the first one to the microphone bank.
They still need Johnie Cochrane
If anyone can raise holy cain, it is Jesse. Why not? As for making it a circus -- It already WAS a circus... as in Roman circus, where the innocent were fed to the lions.
You're not lumping Randall Terry in with JEsse Jackson and Larry Klayman? None of them ever met a camera they didn't love and are self serving and always hurt any movement they support. Every time.
In every encounter a "sale" is made, either one way or the other. It is seldom wise to talk beyond the sale and it is expecially hurtful to the cause to bring in these "personalities," or "celebrities!"
It's all beginning to turn this conservative's stomach! It's time to stop showing contempt for the "court of public opinion" or the cause for life will be damaged for decades IMO. Don't worry. I don't expect everybody to agree with this. So shun me, but don't get in my face, if you don't mind.(That wasn't directed at you personally, Mindbender26!)
Anybody got his phone number???
Me thinks you have nailed it.
The world's best political opportunists will show up about now, however, they may have unintended consequences.
If enough congresscritters pile on, they may force the testimony in front of congress of the medical personnel involved, and the subpoena of ALL THE COURT AND HOSPITAL RECORDS. Greer and his deathocrats will try to withhold, but will fail just as long as they keep Sandy Burger out of the courthouse.
The publicity will expose Greer and seriously set back the deathocrat agenda.
When in battle, any weapon is better than none.
It might not help Terri, but it will keep the conversation going - and just might prevent this situation from ever happening again. Or, bring focus on/against the Euthanasia movement that is supporting this and just waiting to use this opportunity for its own advances.
If more people, no matter who, who have any measure of recognition or appeal - anywhere - speak out, it just might enlighten the public about what is really the monster out there - legalized euthanasia.
They may need to call in an even greater police presence.
You must belong to JJ's campaign to resurrect him.
I heard Jesse Jackson on Scarborough Country. He said all the right things but then turned it into a plea for national health care. This is the reason he is going.
I should think it would be obvious.
"If the cameras are lit, here comes the zit!"
But, as I said elsewhere, it's a rare issue that brings me and the Re'erend Jesse Jackson to the same side of the table, so come on in.
I was surprised when reading about Greer, that he is a Republican. I think this issue crosses party lines a little more than we think.
>>>Jesse thinks Terri's tube should be reinserted. So do Ralph Nader and Joe Lieberman, and (I think) Tom Harkin.
Harkin did come down on the side of life on this one...
I would never take that bet, my friend. Mister Jackson is again shamelessly attempting to create an artificial demand for his alleged service.
On a related, but separate issue, I believe that the next time Mister Jackson breaks international law by inserting himself between our foes and our diplomats, we should consider a class action law suit to the tune of billions and billions of $s.
