I know how much we all want to support our side. I know that many of us are looking for something good in what happened tonight. Sadly, an honest assessment will result in a single conclusion, that tonight the Republican Senate failed the nation, in order to protect themselves from having to take a vote that would determine the future Presidential ambitions of some Senators.
Do not blame the 12 moderates, because we already knew that they could not be trusted. Do not blame the President, and tonight, you cannot even blame the Democrats. Their side did their job, which was to win. Our side did not. I am not posting this to bash the Republican Party, I am posting this, because I already see some of us looking for the silver lining in this turd. Do not do that. Face the reality of the situation, which is that Senators care about Senators. Bill Frist had ample opportunity to change Senate rules prior to the formation of the 109th Congress. He also had ample opportunity to pull the trigger weeks, even months ago. He did not, which is why I said in an earlier post, that would not vote for Frist for President no matter the outcome of events.
Unfortunatly, we have no recourse. We cannot give up the Senate in an attempt to punish the Senate Republicans. We cannot afford to cut off our noses to spite our faces. But the time will come, where we will have a chance to make our voices heard. Not tonight, not 2006 but maybe by 2008 we will have the voice, the organization, and the attention of enough minds to truly punish the Senate for what they did tonight.
Keep your powder dry, and wait for these folks to come into range. Save your ammo for now. But one day, we will make them pay.
>>Face the reality of the situation, which is that Senators care about Senators. <<
You mean Republican Senators don't care about the Freepers who push for their reelection as if they were Americas last blood?
Don't be fooled. Throwing around the word rape like that is pitiful.
...and tonight the bone-heads made a move to guar-an-tee that the Dems will return. Pukie-pubbies.
Hey, man, are we like in the middle of a Star Wars flick? Kidding.
The Republicans will be sacrificed in '06 & '08. We will cut off our noses to spite our faces to get back at the cowards, to send a message to Republican leaders yet to be. This will be a lesson for future Republicans. Don't roll over for the minority, and don't piss off your base, or they'll vote you out.
Because they lack character. They are really Democrats that call themselves Republicans to get elected. Snow, Collins, Jeffords, McCain, Voinovich, Lott, Graham.
you mean that yelling and cursing at the TV isn't an effective deterrent to his treachery?
Ah! They did! But, only as far as neccessary to carry on their agenda. Sheets Byrd was instrumental in changing cloture from 67 to 60.
It does all seem like a show put on to keep easing us into COMMUNISM!
"The Republicans will be sacrificed in '06 & '08."
Personally, I am hoping we can sustain the 2006 defeat and regroup in time for 2008. At least enough to defeat Hillary.
Fine with me; sometimes a good fire is cleansing, rather than waiting for it to just rust. We're not getting any younger, and I for one don't want to wait year after year of decline to see if Frist, McCain and Trent Lott get a clue.
Screw it. Turf 'em, let the 'Rats really screw things up, then we'll see if this country still has balls after all. If it doesn't, well . . . . which side can run farms and hunt, and which side works at Starbucks and needs a map to find their ass?
I think we are truly living in 1984 where we have two fictious parties under the control of two fictious families the Clintons and Bushs which are really one party controlled by one family the Republicrats controlled by the Bustons! They play us off against each other and in the mean time they win. And they have their Kool aid drinkers who really believe in them and think their is a difference.
There are still conservatives left in the GOP such as Sen. George Allen and Rep. Tom Tancredo and more but they are outnumbered and outspent by the Leftist Dems and RINOS. We need another grassroots movement to bring a conservative back to the head of the GOP.
DeWine is in Ohio. Ohio is next door. I could get there.
So if anybody has an effort going say around the Toledo area for a RINO Retirement Party I would consider it.
"Just accept the fact that Lucy isn't going to let you kick the football, and move on."
Move on to what?
Don't despair! She will be a strong opponent, but we have a lot to offer.
Especially if we grow a spine! (The Republican leadership, that is.) :)
I think this is a brilliant tactic.
This debate is about the nomination of Owen. The Democrats agreed to support cloture on Owen, Brown, and Pryor, but Frist doesn't have to bring them up in that order. Let's see how long it takes the Democrats to find and "extremist" judge. Let's go another round of prolonged debates while this agreement is still fresh in people's minds.

It's looking that way.
Either you purposefully misrepresented my post, or you're an idiot. Which is it?
This deal is structured so that we don't have to nuke it unless we need to... and we won't need to unless the dems break their end of the bargain first.
It is not a bad deal. We got 3 conservative judges, and we'll get up or down votes on the others... or we nuke them just like we'd planned on doing tomorrow.
Reid is the guy in trouble (even if he doesn't want to think so)... he just had 7 of his 44 sign an agreement not to support his filibusters. And if those 7 change their minds.... it will be political suicide.
I've had it. We deserve Hillary if we cant do better than these weasels in the Senate. So if we have to take Hillary in order to get rid of those bastards, so be it.
Yes. B___ F____d is much more accurate.
