Saudis Shred Bibles, Rights Campaigners Claim

Muslim Hate and Abuse of Bible.

Bibles found in the possession of visitors to Saudi Arabia are routinely confiscated by customs officials, and in some cases copies have been put through a paper shredder. Abuse of Christians and their symbols was not restricted to the destruction of Bibles: a Catholic nun had a transit flight in Jeddah – “They opened her bag, went through her prayer book, put the prayer book through the shredder ... took the crucifix off her neck and smashed it, tormented her for many minutes."

(Why nobody talk about hate of Muslims toward Jews and Christians. But, we brainwashed that it is our fault that Muslim hate all non-Muslim world!) http://www.cnsnews.com//ViewForeignBureaus.asp?Page=\ForeignBureaus\archive\200505\FOR20050519a.html

That's because it's written in the very bible that they shredded to turn the other cheek. We as Christians also realize that what is really valuable in God's eyes are his children, and that the bible is only the rule and guide of our faith. It is only a book. God lives in our heart, not between two covers of a book. The sqeaky wheel also gets the grease. Muslims make a lot of noise about disrespecting their religion. Why we think it's necassary to appease them is beyond me. Their a bunch of mindless crybabies.

What's truly disturbing is the fact that the Muslims expect everyone to follow, or at least abide by, the Muslim faith, whether they practice it or not. That is not a religion: that is a dicatorship. The Wahabi believe they already rule the world, and in many cases we are doing nothing to discourage that notion in them.

In our eyes, Newsweek screwed up by not following journalistic standards. In the eyes of Islam, Newsweek screwed up by even suggesting that their precious book had been violated. Didn't you notice how many signs and protests reviled Newsweek along with the U.S.?

We need to remind the worshippers of the black rock that we are not bound by their laws, and we will not submit to their articles of faith. I would have gladly treated the Koran with a modicum of respect out of courtesy to someone who feels strongly about it, but I will NOT be forced to respect something that advocates my own death and suffering.

You should resist treating any book as an idol. Beyond that, there is no "black rock". That's merely a black curtain surrounding what is claimed to be one of Abraham's altars. This is where Islamic tradition places Sarah's handmaiden, Hagar.

The altar is composed of several pieces of fossilized wood and a meteorite similar to those that can be found out in the Arabian desert.

The Wahabis are nuts.

Noted on the correction to the makeup of the Ka'aba. As far as the book goes, I was careful to say "respect", not "idolize". I would have gladly not mistreated their book in any way as a courtesy to them, but if they insist that I act as though it is my holy book when it is not, well, I'm now happy to dunk it in a bowl of urine and put it in an art show.

I don't respect books either. They're just pieces of paper.

It is only a book?

I was taught the Bible was the inspired WORD of God. "The WORD of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, joint and marrow and is a discerner of of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12 It is our handbook for living.

Inspired means to breathe in...the Bible and its words were breathed in to the men who actually wrote it down. It is not just a book....it is God's heart for mankind...it is His love letter to us. How many people out there cherish the love letters written to them by someone they are in love with?..they put them in carefully selected places so they wont get ruined or lost. How much more should they respect and cherish the love letter God wrote for us.

I'd like you to tell the person who is under penalty of death because of possession of even tiny portions of scripture...that it "just a book"....or those who are smuggling the Bible into communist China...that they are risking their lives for "just a book".

"Green eggs and ham" is just a book....

BIBLE...Basic Information Before Leaving Earth

I urinate on the koran, daily. I prefer that to ripping it up, as you can repeat it until it rots, yellow and stinking in the sun.

You miss my point completely. If I was to travel to Saudi Arabia, and my bible was taken and shredded, I would simply buy another one when able. It's A book that can be bought in any book store. What they can NEVER take from me, is the faith and belief I hold in THE bible as the word of God which lives in our hearts and soul. Do you think it's acceptable to take the life of someone who defaces or destroys a bible as Muslims do of the Koran.

Still, the Bible is something holy, in the sense that it is something set apart for God, and should be treated accordingly.
